ROCKCORRY G.A.A.

CLUB NOTES

26th February 2013

Reserve Fixtures

After four months without football I’m glad to report that the league season commences this weekend. That’s right folks, its football time again and the long dark days of winter watching boring Sunday afternoon TV are over because the first game of the year takes place this Sunday 3rd March when our reserve team play Castleblayney at Pairc Naomh Mhuire at 12.30pm. Now all you have to do is go and support the lads.

Senior Fixtures

Our senior football campaign starts on Sunday 31st March with a home game against neighbours Latton. A full set of fixtures has been uploaded to our website at www.rockcorrygaa.ie.

Charity Race Night

Hold onto your drinks folks and let’s go quackers for the Irish Heart Foundation this St. Patrick’s weekend because a charity race night will take place on Saturday 16th March in Fitzpatrick’s Bar & Lounge. They say the simplest games are always the most fun and I am hoping that in this case because duck racing has hit the scene. That’s right folks the Donald Duck and Daffy Duck variety!  It may come as a surprise but I have been luckily enough to track down some very athletic and highly nimble ducks that are currently away training at high attitude and will be specially flown in for this mecca event! On a more serious note, I am organizing this race night to help raise money for the Irish Heart Foundation who provides support to thousands of heart & stroke patients and families every year. Sadly, every day an average of thirteen people die from heart attacks and stroke related illnesses in this country and the object hear is to raise vital funds to fight against heart disease and stroke, the number one killer in this country. You can make a difference so please support by making a donation or by sponsoring a race or buying a duck for this race night. Everyone is welcome to attend and your support is deeply appreciated for this very worthy cause. It promises to be a great night, a great laugh and it’s going to be quacktastic!!!
