The reconvened February Meeting of the Camogie Board took place in the Glencarn Hotel on Monday evening last where a little bit of History was made when Gary Carville of G.A.A. fame was appointed to the Chair by Ulster Camogie Council.
Gary hails from Mullaghduff in Annyalla, Clontibret and is Secretary of Cremartin GAA club. He served as Chairman of Monaghan County Board of the GAA from 2000 until 2004.He was previously Public Relations Officer of the County Board from 1994 until 2000 and Chairman of the Cremartin GAA club 1996 until 2000. He is a member of Castleblayney Hurling Club and also served on sub-committees of Ulster Council GAA.

The position of Chairperson had remained vacant when Geraldine Clarke who had been part and parcel of County Board affairs for many years declined to be nominated for the 2011 County Conventon. Ulster Council Administrator Kieran Kearney became involved when camogie Personnel were “short on the ground” in the County and so began the search for a Chairperson within GAA circles, with the help of Martin Mc. Aviney, the problem was solved when Gary Carville agreed to facilitate our Meetings. He took time out from his busy schedule where Kieran Kearney and Ger Gribben, Regional Development Officer, introduced him to the Executive of the Board on Monday evening where he got a brief run down on the club and County scene. The Camogie Board welcome Gary and look forward to working with him in the future.
