Sean’s Notes
Executive Committee. Almost all positions and seats around the executive table are now filled. Conor Mc Elvaney accepting the position of Club Secretary eased the anxiety that had prevailed in the club after our AGM failed to appoint a Runai. Conor brings youth and enthusiasm to this key position, and is looking forward and relishing the role and tasks that are in store, we wish him well as he settles in to his new post . Michael Mc Elroy is promoted from the back benches of the committee and takes over the equally onerous task of looking after club finances, no stranger to book keeping and accountancy procedures Michael requests everyone support co-operation and assistance as he eases himself in the Treasurers hot seat. We welcome James Coyle and Eugene Oliver Prunty on board, both bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to the committee table, and with Roseleen Mc Elvaney continuing as Cultural Officer and leaving no stone unturned in her promotion of all things cultural, the club’s administrative horizon is looking much brighter than it did a couple of weeks ago.
Team manager. At last week’s executive meeting former club star forward Adrian Larkin was appointed new adult team manager for the coming season. Adrian and his backroom team have hit the ground running and will hold their first training session on Sunday 27th January at 12.30pm, all players are invited, come prepared i.e. indoor and outdoor gear; no excuses ! No doubt he will also be outlining their fitness programmes and training schedule for the year ahead. We wish Adrian well in his new role and like all club aficionados will hope the team are in contention for promotion and trophies at the business end of the season. No pressure!!!
Under age. As with the executive committee the club’s Youth Committee for 2013 is also taking shape; Jerome Mannering and Gabriel Bell are installed as Chairman and Secretary respectively. Gardaí vetting is a statutory obligation and coaching where required will be provided, but don’t let either put you off, capable competent and willing volunteers are most welcome and encouraged to get involved.
Cultural Night. Cultural Night: Our monthly Traditional Irish Music session took place last Friday in the Club’s Social Centre. This was a fantastic night’s entertainment. St Macartan’s Gala Ball. In 2013 St Macartan’s College are celebrating 100 years of Gaelic Games in the college. To mark this milestone the college is inviting all past pupils to join them at a special Centenary Gala Ball on Saturday February 16th in the Hillgrove Hotel for a reunion of past pupils and teachers in what promises to be a night to be remembered. Within our club there are many past pupils and this is a great opportunity for them to support their”alma mater”. All proceeds go to the redevelopment of the “bottom pitch”.
