Seniors

The winter cobwebs have been dusted down and the OTBOTB initiative is under way and it’s still not too late to get involved. The exercise part has commenced on Saturday mornings under the expert guidance of our ‘new’ county player, Stephen Smith. A big congratulations to Stephen who played really well in his first full outing for Monaghan last Sunday. Both Stephen and Dick contributed handsomely in the victory over St Mary’s in the Mc Kenna Cup. In the O Byrne Cup, Jack Mc Carron had a big impact in DCU’s draw with Wicklow.

Monaghan County Board Dinner Dance.

The Annual Monaghan GAA Awards night will be held in the Hillgrove Hotel on Saturday night, 19th January. The guest speaker will be former Offaly hurler and media pundit, Michael Duignan. Once again Currin figure in the honours list as this year, Jack Mc Carron will be the recipient of the young player of the year award. Currin GFC will have a table on the night and you are invited to join us. Please contact our Chairman, David or Secretary, Patricia as soon as possible.

Mouthguards

Please remember that following the GAA’s Annual Congress in April 2012 a new rule was enacted that made it mandatory to use a mouthguard in all Gaelic football matches and TRAINING sessions from January 1st 2013 (for all age grades up to and including minor).

Notes

Don’t forget, if you have any news items that may be of interest to anyone, especially those abroad, please forward them to pro.currin.monaghan@gaa.ie. for inclusion.

The ‘Gathering’

At our recent committee meeting, a discussion was held as to the feasability of reviving the once very successfull ‘15th August’ festival in Scotshouse as part of the Gathering. A sub-committee is to be formed regarding this project. Get in touch with Sean Quigley if you think that this would be a good idea and that you would like to get involved.
