Ulster Camogie Convention
Kathleen Woods, Chairperson of Ulster CounciL addressed the Convention which was held in the Navan Centre, Armagh on Sunday last by welcoming delegates who had travelled long distances in the inclement weather conditions and gave a brief outline on how the Council has progressed in the past few years. Due to a hardworking executive and Ciaran Kearney Chief Administrator who had been installed by Sport N. I . The Ulster Council was back on track and was once again in a healthy position. Sport Northern Ireland are in the process of creating a new position on the Council which would involve Talent ID and Coaching.
Kathleen congratulated Derry on winning the All Ireland Junior title which was a major boost for Ulster and also congratulated all the other competition winners.
Sr Mairead Fearon who is Colleges coordinator has invited Monaghan Secondary Schools to get involved in the Ulster Colleges competitions.
A number of positions were left open including the Cathaoirleach tofa wherby nomination forms would be sent to the various Boards before the next meeting.
Mary O Connor , Ard Stiuthoir, The Camogie Association, Guest Speaker at Sunday’s Convention outlined the new Membership proposals for 2014 and drew attention to the fact that due to a reduction in funding from other sources, coupled with increased demand on the camogie association. The Current levels of income generated by affiliations is unsustainable
The Current system whereby a club pays €300, €30 of this goes to the County Board, €30 to Provincial Council and €240 to Croke Park.
The Proposed New System would take the following format and generate more funding for County Boards. This proposal will be up for debate at this years Camogie Congress which will be held in Mayo at the end of March.
Clubs will be duly informed when a representative from Ard Comhairle will facilitate meetings in the coming weeks.

County Senior Blitz
Sunday March 10th was set for the Senior Blitz at the fixtures meeting on Monday night, which this year can be run as 9- a –side depending on club numbers, with The County League getting underway on Sunday 7th April. These fixtures will be ratified at the next Board Meeting on Monday February 4th.
Mid Ulster U14 Blitz
The Mid Ulster Sports Arena, Cookstown will be hosting its annual U14 7-a-side Ulster Camogie Tournament (Shield & Cup) on Sunday 17th February 2013. This event will commence at 11am and will hopefully finish by 2:30pm and is open to all Camogie teams in Ulster
Teams looking to attend must be registered by 1st February 2013 (Entries after this date will not be accepted). The entry fee is £10 per team.
This event is an excellent opportunity to prepare teams for the upcoming U14 season.
