All-Ireland Ladies Club Senior Football Championship Final
Donaghmoyne 1-10 Carnacon 1-5 2/12/12
Donaghmoyne won their third All-Ireland Ladies Club SFC title with a 1-10 to 1-5 win over defending champions Carnacon in the final at Ballinamore on Sunday.
Cathriona McConnell converted four frees in the first half and she also had a penalty which hit the post and came back out for Fiona Lafferty to fire to the net, while Hazel Kingham added a point to help Donaghmoyne lead by 1-5 to 1-3 at the interval. They had been seven points clear at one stage, but a soft goal, toe-poked home by Natasha Beegan, had brought defending champions Carnacon back into the game.
Donaghmoyne, who restricted Cora Staunton to just three points (one from play) defended superbly in a scrappy second half, where they conceded just two points. McConnell and Majella Woods hit 0-2 apiece and Player-of-the-Match Cora Courtney also got on the scoresheet to lead the Monaghan and Ulster champions to a five-point win.
