Clontibret Camogie News.
Well what a week it has been! No sooner had we drawn our breath following our hugely successful Cake and Jumble Sale than we were straight into the business of selling the last of the lines for our Annual Draw and putting the finishing touches to our ‘Party Night’. And what a resounding success both proved to be!
With the Club Rooms packed last Friday evening, everyone was treated to scrumptious food courtesy of the Royal Jade (Castleblayney) and Charlie’s (Monaghan) and the presentations then got underway.
Our U-14 players who were the ‘centre of attention’ on the night were presented with their Louth League medals, t-shirts to commemorate 2012, and those on the County U-14 panel received their U-14 county medals. A special presentation was made to Amy Gorman who was chosen to represent her club and school, in Croke Park, when she played during the half -time interval in the All-Ireland hurling championship semi-final between Cork and Galway in August.
It was then time to announce the ‘Senior Player of the Year 2012’. Not surprisingly Michelle Morgan, received the accolade, a fitting acknowledgement of a year peppered with great performances both at club and county level. The much-anticipated Draw then took place, the results of which are set out below. And finally ‘hashtag’ added to the festive spirit with a lively performance.
It would be remiss of me not to express the gratitude of the club to the many, many people who supported our fundraising endeavours over the past few weeks. Words like ‘austerity’, and ‘recession’, are constantly used to ‘tar’ our communities and country. Yet when you witness the generosity of spirit, as well as the financial and material generosity of so many people towards a voluntary organisation such as the Camogie Club, in spite of the economic climate, it is very encouraging and uplifting.
So ‘Thank you’ to everyone for their goodness and support.
