Clontibret
AGM
We held a short but efficient AGM on Friday night in the clubrooms where the work of 2012 was reviewed and plans made for 2013.
The officers for 2013 were elected as follows: President: Brian Keenan, Vice-President: Sean Hughes, Chairman: Colm Gormley, Secretary: Frank McManus, Treasurer: Kieran Lavelle, Vice-Chairman: Declan Moen, Assistant Secretary: Peadar Hughes, Assistant Treasurer: Michael McSkeane, PRO: Kathy McManus, Registrar: Thomas Greenan, Youth Officer: Fergal Mone, Coaching Officer: Martin Corey, Children’s Officer: Caroline McQuaid, ASAP Officer: Jerome Savage, Players’ Officer: John Paul Mone.
In the course of a wide range of well-documented reports from the secretary, treasurer, youth officer and hurling officer, the events of the year were reviewed. In his address the chairman acknowledged the hard work, both on and off the field, of all involved in the smooth running of the club at different levels, including players, club officers, team management and mentors as well as all who help out in a variety of ways both with their time and money. Those parents who give of their time by involving themselves in the role of coaching and also transporting children to and from matches were singled out for thanks. In the coming year we hope to get many more parents involved by helping out in any way they can.
Club 100The Secretary’s report recalled that at a County Board meeting in Ballybay on 26th April 1913 the recently formed Clontibret club was affiliated as Clontibret O’Neills. To commemorate and celebrate the past 100 years as well as well as help plan for the next 100, the chairman announced the club’s intention to set up a Club 100 to help fund the recent purchase and future development of our additional grounds. Further details on this exciting new initiative will be unveiled early in 2013.
Club Membership
A new initiative to increase club membership was also announced at the AGM, with the setting-up of a registration sub-committee under the direction of club registrar, Thomas Greenan. On registering with the club all members will be asked to provide their mobile number and email address where available, to enable efficient and regular communication with our members regarding club affairs. Everyone is asked to pay their membership of €20 promptly to ease the job of the membership committee.
Club Gear
A new batch of club gear has arrived and is for sale in the clubrooms for all those Christmas presents. Report to the club or contact Caroline McQuaid.
Players of the Year
Players to be honoured with Player of the Year awards for their contribution during 2012 were announced as follows: Senior Player: Conor McManus, Reserve Player: Kieran Greenan, Young Player: Conor Carragher. They will be presented at a function in the new year.
Mouth Guards
It will be compulsory from 1st January for all players from minor down to all our juvenile players, including u8s and u10s to wear a mouth guard at both training and matches. All players and parents are advised to be aware of this new regulation and be prepared for the first training session of the new season.
Mass For Deceased Members
Mass for deceased members will take place on Saturday, 12th January at 7.30pm in St. Mary’s.
