The annual Ulster Camogie Awards took place on Saturday in the Kelly Inn. A great evening was had by everyone, with special guests Camogie President Aileen Lawlor, Ulster GAA Vice President Martin Mc Avinney. Derry took pride of place with Aileen Mc Cusker receiving Senior Player of the Year and their manager John A Mullen taking Manager/Coach of the year, with the team remaining unbeaten all year and successfully winning the All Ireland Intermediate Championship after a replay against Galway.
Congratulations to our neighbours Cavan and especially Rosie Crowe who received Junior player of the year.
More importantly Monaghan had silverware to accept with Hannah Mc Skeane, captain of the U-14 team county team accepting the U14 Division 5 blitz Eddie Murphy Memorial shield from Mary Murphy of Castleblaney, which they won during the summer. This was a great achievement by all the girls and a special and proud day for Hannah accepting the shield on behalf of all the girls.
Also congratulations to the Castleblaney Camogie team who were presented with the NWP Bridie Mc Menamin shield at the awards which their captain Roisin Mc Kenna proudly accepted.
