Danske Bank Ulster Club Minor Football Championship First Round
Castleblayney v Donagh, Sunday, 1.30, St. Paul’s, Belfast
Castleblayney enter the Ulster Club Minor Football Championship this Sunday when they take on St. Pat’s, Donagh in the opening game of the 2012 tournament. After the exits of Doohamlet and Drumhowan last Sunday, Blayney are Monaghan’s last chance of winning an Ulster club title this year. The Faughs, who battled past Monaghan Harps in the county final, will need big performances from the likes of Barry Hanratty, Fergal Malone, David McMahon, Niall McCann, Fergal McGeough and Aaron and Ronan McNamara. Donagh, who dethroned Erne Gaels in the Fermanagh final, will need players such as Matthew McGrade, Johnny O’Reilly, Cathal O’Neill, Kevin Curran and Brian McDermott in top form. Monaghan clubs have an underwhelming record in this competition, which is run by Belfast club St. Paul’s, but Blayney have the ability to cross this hurdle. Please note change of time and venue.
