Truagh Notes
Seniors: We lost 1-10 to 2-11 against Clontibret last Sunday. We trailed by 3 points after just 4 minutes, but were level by the 10th minute. It was to be the last time the sides were level. Clontibret retook the lead 5 minutes later, a lead they maintained to the break, where we were 0-4 to 0-6 behind at half time. Clontibret converted a penalty in the 40th minute to put 5 points between the sides. This was extended to 8 points when they scored a second goal in the 45th minute. We battled back, and reduced the margin to 4 points through a Neil McRory goal in the 48th minute, but failed to close the margin further finishing with a 1-10 to 2-11 scoreline at full time. Our next senior game is at home this Sunday 16th September at 12.30pm against Carrickmacross.
Minors: We lost the MFC Div. 2 semi-final play off last Saturday to Emyvale 0-9 to 0-11. This completes the minor season for the year.
Lotto Jackpot now €2,600: There were no winner of last week’s jackpot of €2,400. The 4 lucky numbers were 1, 2, 6, 19. All Ireland Football Tickets: Any club member wishing to enter the ballot for AI football tickets must have their name in to Ursula-0864114027 before this Sunday 16th September at 8.30pm. Names can also be taken for applicants at the match this weekend. The draw will take place that night.

U-14: Our U14b team will play Currin this Saturday the 15th of September at 12pm in St Mellans. Players are asked to be in Mellans for 11.15am. Our U14a team will play in the division 1 league final on Saturday the 22nd of September. Time and venue to be confirmed.
U-6, 8 & 10: Training every Thursday evening in St. Mellans from 7-8pm.
Hurling:
Minors: Our amalgamated minor team defeated Castleblayney in the championship semi-final last Monday 4-8 to 2-7. We now play Emmet Grattans in the final. Date yet to be confirmed.
Ladies Football:
10km Run: Keep free Sunday 21st October 2pm. Truagh ladies are organising a 10km & 6km fun run/walk. Everyone welcome.
Liathroid Laimhe:
AGM. We held our agm Tuesday evening last the 4th of September in St.Mellans, it was a very well attended meeting with all the usual suspects and some new faces which is always great to see, after all reports were delivered we sat about the election of officers, all was re-elected except for a change in assistant secretary as Christopher (PJ) is setting sail for down-under soon. Chairperson Darrin O’ Reilly, Vice Chair Brian Mc Kenna(P), Secretary Kevin Treanor, Assistant Sec Eamon Todd, Treasurer Frank Mc Kenna, Assist Treasurer Michael Mc Carron and PRO Peadar Mc Cluskey. Other elected committee members on the night were John Treanor, Geraldine Harnet, Seamus Finn, Michael Todd, John Kelly, Owenie Joe Mc Clave and Declan Mc Kenna, we would like to wish all the committee well in the coming year and lets hope it is a productive year for all.
Adult Registration. We are having 2 registration nights for adult members on Friday the 7th and Friday the 14th of September in St.Mellans from 9-10pm, Frank will be on hand to except all monies, 30 Euro for adults and 15 Euro for students, we are having just 2 dates as we want to get the Mono League up and running asap. This year we must run the leagues on time and very sharp due to the shear number of juveniles playing as we must also set up leagues and allocate alley time to them, so no excuses don’t be late anyone old or new that wants to play in the league the last date is the 14th NO PAY NO PLAY !!!!!!!!.
Juvenile Registration. We are also having a registration for juveniles which will also be on the 14th (tomorrow evening) but at an earlier time of 8-9pm in St.Mellans, the membership is as per last year of 5 Euro (budget isn’t until December), due to the numbers attending we are putting a cap on the age starting at 8 years old (except for younger players that were already playing last year).
World Championships. We will be having 12 players from the club taking part in the World Championships next month in Dublin, good luck to all taking part and get training its only just around the corner.
