Sean Mac Diarmada Notes 6-9-12

 

Under 12:

Saturday saw our U12’s make the trip to Ballybay to partake in the Division 2 shield final. We faced tough opposition in a Donaghmoyne side who had beaten us convincingly in our previous meeting. Our boys were not daunted by this however and Zach Perkins opened the scoring with a fine point from play. We soon raced into a 3 point lead with points from Killian Murphy and Patrick McCarron respectively. Donaghmoyne came back strong but goals from James Murphy and a cheeky effort from a free by Daragh Maguire meant our boys lead 2-3 – 1-4 at the break. Donaghmoyne started the second half strongly with a goal but again Patrick McCarron stepped up to the plate and coolly slotted the ball past the opposing keeper. A spirited Donaghmoyne fought back bravely but were no match for our defence with Oisin Mc Kenna, David Keely, Josh Hagan and James Clerkin the unsung heroes at the back. Mark Melvin was ever impressive up front and helped assist 3 more points from Zach Perkins, Paddy McCarron and Killian Murphy which left a final scoreline of 3-6 – 2-5.

Cultural Night:

Our Traditional Irish Music session takes place on the 2nd Friday of each month. Next session takes place on Friday 14th September. Junior musicians will kick off proceedings @ 9pm sharp, with the pace rapidly increasing as the night goes on! We look forward to seeing you all there for a great night’s entertainment. Refreshments served.
