Seniors – A much changed senior team went down to a 2-15 to 1-16 defeat to Carrickmacross in a SFL game last Friday evening. Most of the damage was done in a poor first half display as we trailed by 6 at the interval. A second half rally saw Blayney take the lead as the game entered its final quarter but a breakaway Carrick goal sealed our fate. This weekend sees the Championship semi-final clash with Clontibret. The game forms the first part of a double header in Clones with the action getting away at 3.30PM
Minors: There was disappointment for the minors in the league final last Saturday when they were defeated by a solitary point by Scotstown. Blayney had the best of the opening period and led by 3 at the interval. They had to fight a rearguard action in the 2nd half as two Scotstown goals gave them the lead but a great rally in the final 5 minutes saw them come up just a single point short. Final score Scotstown 2-09 Faughs 1-11 .Team and scorers: M Brennan; N McCann, F McGeough (1-0), F Malone; A McNamara (0-3, 2f), M Kelly, J Walshe; B Hanratty, C McNally; R McNamara (0-1), D McMahon (0-3f), A McElroy (0-1); B Duffy, K Mackin (0-1), J Beattie (0-1). This Saturday they will attempt to bounce back and qualify for the Championship Final as they play Carrickmacross in a semi-final in Inniskeen on Saturday at 3PM
