Truagh Notes

Final Action: We play in the U-12 Div. 1 shield final this Saturday 1st September at 4pm against Scotstown in Ballybay. We wish the team and mentors good luck in the final. All support for the lads welcome.

Seniors: Our next senior game is on Sunday 9th September at 1.30pm in St. Mellans against Clontibret.

Reserve B: We were due to play away to Monaghan Harps on Wednesday in our last match of the league.

Minors: Our game against Rock Sarsfields was postponed last Tuesday due to the opposition conceding.

Lotto Jackpot now €2,200: There were no winner of last week’s jackpot of €2,000. The 4 lucky numbers were 9, 11, 17, 23. There were 8 match 3 winners, each receiving  €25 Seamus Clinton, Patsy+Mary Donaghue, Charlie McKenna, Alo McKenna, Kevin Cushnaham, Brendan Donaghue, McEntee, Martin McAree (Yearly Ticket) . U-16: We lost to Carrickmacross in the U-16 Div. 2 final last week, 2-9 to 1-15. A slow start had us 0-7 to 0-1 down after 21 minutes, but a resurgent last 10 minutes levelled the game at the interval, 1- to 0-7.We started the 2nd half aswe left off the 1st and 2-5 to 0-7 after just 2 minutes. Carrick however found form and re-took the lead in the 44th minute with a goal. The Truagh lads put in a huge effort to close the gap again but lost out in the end by a goal, 2-9 to 1-15. Our team and scorers were: Fergal Rooney; Darren Sherlock, Caolain McGee, Emmet O’Neill; James Deery (0-1), Shane Treanor (0-2), Gary McCaffrey; Aaron Treanor, Conor Boyle (0-1); Matthew Flood, Michael McCarron, Tommy O’Brien (1p-2f); Dean Connolly, Noel Flood (1-0), Ryan Mohan (0-1). Subs Used: Pearse McKenna for Emmet O’Neill & Niall Myers for Ryan Mohan. Unused Subs: Gary Treanor, James Treanor, Jamie Sherlock, Gary McKenna, Oran McGee, Demo Boyle, James McKenna & Daniel Treanor.  Hard luck to all our players and mentors. We play our first game of the championship this Thursday at 6.30pm at home to Toome.

U-14: Well done to both our U14 teams who have both progressed to the league finals of their respective divisions, having being unbeaten throughout their league campaign. Our U14A team soldiered through a tough battle with Scotstown in Scotstown on Saturday last to win 1-14 to 2-09.
Our U14B team enjoyed a win over Clones in Clones on Saturday last 10-12 to 4-05. Keep up the good work in preparation for the finals. Dates and venues for both finals to be confirmed, so watch this space.

U-12: Under 12 boys training every Tuesday and Thursday 7 to 8. Our final against Scotstown this Saturday at 4pm in Ballybay.

 

U-6, 8 & 10: Training every Thursday evening in St. Mellans from 7-8pm. Congratulations to our U-10 team who won the Johnny Reilly Memorial cup for the second year in a row at the Kinawley blitz last Saturday. They had 5 tough games before having a convincing win over Cootehill in the final. They can be very proud of themselves as they played their hearts out and gave 100% for their club. They’re a credit to their club, coaches and their parents.The team was -Ronan Boyle, Eithne Boyle, Ryan Harnett, Mia O’Reilly, Aaron Treanor,Oran Maguire, Cian Maguire, Daryl Daly, Louis Kelly, Lewis McElwaine, Cian McGeough, Fionn Sweeney, Cillian Sweeney, David McKenna, Mark Cassidy, Aaron Cassidy and Stephan Lavery.

 

Hurling:

Seniors –We completed our league campaign last week against Monaghan Harps with a 2-6 to 1-12 defeat.

Minors: Our minor team play in the championship this Saturday against Castleblayney at 4pm in Cremartin.

U-16: semi final next Monday. No opposition or venue confirmed.

U-12 shield final vs Carrickmacross on Monday next 3rd September at 6.30pm in Ballybay

Tractor Run: weekend of 8th/9th – keep free.

Training: Wednesday & Friday at 7.45pm sharp .

 

U-16’s: Training every week on Monday & Wednesday  at 6.15pm

 

 

 

Liathroid Laimhe:

World Championships 2012.  Any player that has registered to play in the World Championships get practising as the tournament is in October which is just around the corner.

AGM. Change of time We will be now holding our Agm on Tuesday the 4th of September in St.Mellans at 9pm sharp we hope see as many heads old and new down, due to this being a busy year coming we ask for as much help as possible with committee and coaching as possible, also any sheets been sent out before the agm must be returned this weekend coming.

Mono League. Due to the World Championships in October we will be starting our league earlier this year so players will have some competitive games under their belt if they are participating in the worlds, so anyone think of making a return to the alley must be registered early to avoid and problems, all monies must be paid to Frank no other member of the committee will be excepting any money. Also any new members please forward your mobile numbers or any existing members with new numbers so we can keep everyone up to date with all that is happening during the year.
