U 14FLD42012. Toome 5-22, Killeevan 6-12. With one game left to play in the division, (away to Latton, on the 25th August,) Team Toome, class U14Div 4, top the table with 14 points from 8 games, has qualified for the final, putting them in pole position, not alone to clinch the 2012 League, but also the 2012 Double, for the first time in the Club’s history in underage competitions. Tyholland and Killeevan presently have 10 points apiece, and will play for the other place in the final. The above match, which was played in St Victors Park on 11th August in brilliant, sunny conditions, turned out to be a very lack luster affair. Team Toome will need to up their game considerably, if they wish to step onto the centre podium on the final day – they are certainly capable of bringing home the gold, and achieving the Club record. That’s the prize at stake!   Toome won the first period by 2-4 to 0-3, goals courtesy of Keane O’Reilly and Bartek. The second period was closer, winning by 2-6 to 2-2 – with the classy Keane  grabbing his second goal, with  the play maker and scorer – in –chief, James Wilson, laying claim to the second major. Half –time score; Toome 4-10, Killeevan 2-5. Killeevan gained the initiative in the third period, forging ahead by 1-6 to 1-4 – the energetic Bartek rasping home his second goal. Toome found themselves on the rack for the first 10 minutes in the last quarter, leaking 3-1, despite Trojan work from John Gorman, before recovering their composure, registering 5 points unanswered points from a hard working Frank Connolly, Keane, and Kevin McCooey.  Killeevan took this period by 3-1 to 0-8. Team – Gabby, John Gorman, Kevin Tibby, Stephen Blessing, (0-1) Frank Connolly, (0-5), Bartek, (2-0) Keane O’Reilly, Capt., (2-3), James Wilson, (1-11), Kevin McCooey, (0-1) Joseph Harte. Subs. Cian McEneaney, Igor, (0-1), Andrew Connolly, Eoin Gorman, Peter McGinn.
