Seniors:
Scotstown progressed to the next stage of the Championship with an
easier than expected victory over Magheracloone in the qualifiers. The
south Monaghan side started the game well and got the opening points
through Tommy and Damien Freeman. Shane Carey converted two frees to
level things, before Scotstown took control of the remainder of the
half. A goal from Orin Heaphey helped them into a lead of 1-7 to 0-5
at the break. If anything, the Blues were even more dominant in the
second-half, and the game was effectively over as a contest when a
Darren Hughes directed a high ball into the net to put Scotstown
eleven points ahead. Rory Beggan was called into action to keep
Magheracloone at bay, but they never really looked like getting back
into the game. The final score was Scotstown 2-15 Magheracloone 0-8.
