The Ned Run 2012:

There was a great turnout for the second annual Ned Run on Saturday
afternoon. In excess of 650 runners and walkers registered for the
event which was won by Simon Ryan of Raheny AC in a time of 25:10.
Paul Finnegan came second, followed by Caoimhin Kelly in third place.
Denise Toner collected the trophy for the Ladies section, crossing the
line in a time of 31.49 – thirteenth overall. Nicola Flanagan and Emma
McKenna were second and third respectively. Jacks’s Bar won the team
competition, and Francis & Irene Caulfield were the quickest Mr & Mrs.
A list of times for those who finished within the hour mark will be
published on the Scotstown GAA website and Facebook page. The
recreational football finals were contested after the run, with
Monaghan Harps defeating Éire Óg in the Seán Hegarty Shield Final,
while holders Scotstown retained the Ned Boylan Cup with a hard fought
victory over Clontibret. With the sporting action out of the way, the
large attendance enjoyed an evening barbecue, before partying the
night away in the Social Club with the help of music from Pro DJ’s.
The amount of money raised from the event is still being finalised,
and all proceeds will go to the two nominated charities – The Irish
Heart Foundation and Monaghan Hospice Home Care. The committee would
like to thank everyone who supported the event or helped in any way,
and we hope to do it all again next year!

Good Luck:

The judges were due to visit Tydavnet yesterday (Wednesday) to
adjudicate for the upcoming Pride of Place awards. Knockatallon were
winners of the Special Endeavour award in 2009, so hopefully there
will be more recognition coming to the parish soon! Good luck, and
well done to everyone involved.
