Scotstown and Castleblayney will contest the GRM Minor Football League Division One Final after they edged through keenly-contested semi-finals. Scotstown had a two-point win at home to Monaghan Harps on Monday, while Castleblayney had the same winning margin against Carrickmacross on Tuesday. The MFC semi-finals feature the same pairings.
The last round of group games in Divisions Two and Three of the Maguire Transport Minor Football Championship took place on Tuesday. Division Two Group A winners Donaghmoyne beat Latton, who will now have to play off against Magheracloone, who got a walkover from Seán McDermotts. There will also be a play-off needed in Group B after Truagh got the points from Rock Sarsfields, leaving them level with north-Monaghan rivals Emyvale, who were narrowly beaten by group table-toppers Cremartin.
The Division Three semi-finals will be Cúchulains Sarsfields v St. Tiarnach’s and Corduff v St. Patrick’s. Aughnamullen and Toome amalgamation Cúchulains Sarsfields completed Group A with a 100% record after their comprehensive win over Inniskeen, while Ballybay/Drumhowan combination St. Patrick’s also advanced after Tyholland conceded their game. Corduff made it three wins from three in Group B by defeating Blackhill, which allowed St. Tiarnach’s (Clones and Éire Óg) to take second place after they got a walkover from Doohamlet.
