CLUB NOTES

7th August 2012

Golf Classic

Attention all golfers, the club is holding a Golf Classic on Saturday 22nd September so please spread the word to all your golfing buddies. This will consist of teams of four people playing on the Clones Golf course and we promise that an attractive array of prizes will be up for grabs on the day. The cost to enter a team is €120.00 and to book your place please contact our chairman Jimmy McGeough 087-9457279 or Paddy McKeown and a member of the organising committee will be in contact with you to discuss your availability to play in the morning or afternoon slots. There are also exciting opportunities for businesses, families and individuals to advertise by sponsoring a tee or a green for a reasonable €50. Members on the committee will be contacting people over the coming weeks and hopefully you will be able to support are fund raising activities. If you are unable to play golf but would still like to make a contribution perhaps you would be interested in sponsoring a prize for a raffle. If so please get in touch we would be delighted to talk to you.

Monaghan Electrical Intermediate League Fixtures

The past two weeks have been really quiet on the playing field, due obviously to the closed holiday period, but the month of August will surely change all that because a hectic schedule of fixtures over the next couple of weeks could define our season! First up is a home game against Corduff this Sunday 12th August and the match has a throw-in time of 2pm. On Wednesday 22nd August we travel to play Cremartin at 7.15pm and on Sunday 2nd September we are on the road again when we travel to Threemilehouse to play Sean McDermott’s at 12.30pm.2.30pm.

McGuigan Builders Intermediate Championship

With plenty of league games to keep us busy the championship encounter against Doohamlet has also been fixed during the month and will take place on Sunday 19th August in Clontibret at 1.45pm. The last time these sides played each other, in the league campaign, they drew in what was a tight and bruising affair and the same result is certainly possible! This clash promises to be another thriller and without doubt will be a classic encounter between two sides that are hungry to progress through the “front door” of the championship. If you like watch exciting, entertaining, engaging and electrifying games of football then you certainly don’t want to miss this ‘Clash of the Giants’ because it will definitely go right down to the wire.

Minor Championship

This year the minor football championship is structured using a “Round Robin” system with teams divided up into two groups. We have been placed in Group B along with Cremartin, Emyvale and Truagh. Group A includes Donaghmoyne, Latton, Magheracloone and Sean McDermotts. The championship starts on Tuesday 14th August when they travel to St. Oliver Plunkett Park to take on Emyvale at 7.15pm. On Tuesday 21st August they are on the road again when they travel to play Cremartin at 7pm and on Tuesday 28th August they have a home game against Truagh (home games are played at Killeevan) and the match has a throw-in time of 6.45pm.This year the minor football championship is structured using a round robin system with two groups.
