Seniors: The senior footballers are at home to Ballybay in the league this Sunday at 2pm, followed five days later by the championship match against the same opposition in the championship. A useful run-out last Saturday produced a win over Seneschalstown from Meath in Inniskeen.

Recreational Football: A big congratulations to our Over-35/ Recreational team who won a very competitive Seán Hegarty Shield final against Éire Óg last Saturday and to Scotstown GFC and the Ned Boylan committee for a very well organised and enjoyable day. Both sides may have slightly slowed over the years but there was no lack of determination in the game. The Harps team welcomed back Ciarán Cuddy and Martin Sheridan who both played a telling role and the first half saw the Harps command a healthy and deserved lead until Éire Óg hit back with two late goals to go in at half-time a point up. The team-talk ended with a demand for more hunger and the players responded with a goal by Man-of-the Match Dessie McGarry and wonderful points from Pádraig McGeough and Damien O’Leary. A couple of majestic points taken by Dessie ensured victory, but this win was built on a team performance. There were particularly impressive performances from Robbie Gallagher, Finbarr Conlon and Chris Conway, while Darren Doyle in goal made some heroic and vital interceptions and clearances.

Team: Darren Doyle, Chris Conway, Niall Brannigan, Dermot Brannigan, Martin Sheridan, Barry Cuddy, Séamus Brannigan, Ciarán Cuddy, Robbie Gallagher, Frank Burke, Damien Morgan, Dessie McGarry, Finbarr Conlon, Damien O’Leary, Pádraig McGeough, Andrew Mullen. Next-up is the Truagh competition this Saturday (September 11) at 3.pm. Training is on Thursday at 8pm as usual.

Minors: The minor footballers return to action next Tuesday evening when they travel to Killanny for the first game of Section A of the championship. Throw-in is at 7.15. Good luck to Maurice Galligan, Pádraig Reilly, Paddy Kelly and the lads.

U-16: The Under-16 footballers are away to Donaghmoyne tomorrow night (Wednesday) for the last round of the league. The lads have a league semi-final away to Scotstown next Thursday (August 16).

U-14: Our two Under-14 football teams are in action in the next couple of days. The Division One team travel to Truagh on Friday for an 8pm throw-in, leaving Gavan Duffy Park at 7. The Division Five lads are away to Drumhowan on Saturday at 12 noon, leaving at 11am.

U-12: Both of our Under-12 football teams will compete in the shield competitions on Saturday, August 18, with the Division One team up against Scotstown and the Division Five lads facing Carrickmacross.

Jerseys: The club are now taking orders for replica Harps jerseys, priced as follows: up to 10/11 years €30; up to 13/14 yrs €35; and Small to XL €40. Orders must be with Una Forde (087 6107329) in the next week and money must be paid up front.

Hard luck: To Colin, Mattie, Michael, Fearghal, Kevin and the Monaghan minor footballers, who lost to Dublin in the All-Ireland MFC quarter-finals last Sunday.

Hurling: The Under-16 and Under-12 hurlers both play at home to Carrickmacross on Monday evening.

Trivia: Of the last six Monaghan teams to reach the Ulster Minor Football Championship Final, four featured Harps men in goals. Can you name them?
