Killanny Notes

Juniors
We made the long journey to Smithboro on Sunday last in terrible conditions only to find Smithboro in perfect conditions for a game . Having to field without several of our usual squad due to holidays and other reasons we introduced 2 new debutaunts to the starting 15 Adam and Andrew Kieran  our second set of twins on the panel. We were slow to start with Eire Og having two points on the board in quich succession before Peter Dooley added two points from frees. The home side added a point from a free and one from a 45 but Eddie Markey and Tiernan Duffy cancelled those out with 2 fine points from play  after Tiernan sailed through the Eire Og defence to slot one over. Peter Dooley put us ahead with a free on the 25th minute but the opposition scored 2 points from frees on the 29th and on the stroke of half tine to give them a 1 point cushion going into the break. Cillian Leegan brought the sides level with a point from play after the restart. Shane Connolly replaced Peter Markey to steady the ship and for the next 20 minutes it was all frees 4 for Peter Dooley and 5 for Eire Og. Michael Vernon who had a reasonably quiet game popped up with a screamer from the sideline to bring the teams level with 7minutes remaining.. Both teams had a few missed chances  but when Eddie Markey fielded a high ball at midfield and soloed forward and popped it to the in running Peter Dooley who fisted over the winner much to the delight of the travelling Cill Eanna supporters. This was an excellent result for us and we now play Oram on Wednesday evening in Pairc Eanna.
Under 16
We have reached the semi-final of the league and are due to play it in Pairc Eanna at 7.00 this evening.
