Senior Football League.
Last week we played three games in one week. To consistently challenge the big teams a team needs numbers and this was evident last week when our small resources were certainly challenged. In our first game against Ballybay we showed we were capable of competing and then on Wednesday we just came up short against Castleblaney Faughs despite some marvellous individual performances but tiredness began to show towards the end and we were beaten by three points. However, two days later, on Friday, we failed disappointingly against Monaghan Harps. The trade-mark work ethic and team spirit that has been a feature of our early games was sadly lacking in this game and the Monaghan town side were deserving winners. ars The August holiday break now intervenes and some of our younger team members are availing of the ‘captains run’ warm weather training and bonding initiative. Our next fixture is scheduled when we are due to travel to Carrickmacross on Sunday 12th August. Keep in touch with the Monaghan GAA website for definite fixtures. Also the Fixtures will be posted in the village.
Juvenile and Youth.
Training: U-14 Training takes place every Thursday from 4.15p.m. to 5.30p.m. No juvenile training this Saturday morning 4th August. It is envisaged that our senior players will be helping out with our juveniles, as time goes on. Ben started the ball rolling last Wednesday evening and this was much appreciated by all. U14’s next game v Clones on 11th August at 12.00 in Currin. Please support. Fixtures etc are all on the official Monaghan website.
Ladies Football
Aghabog ladies comfortably qualified for the championship final when they accounted for Inniskeen in their replay on Monday night last. The scoreline of 6-15 to 0-7 certainly didn’t flatter the dominant west Monaghan ladies.
