Seniors: We lost out to Casteblayney in the latest round of the SFL last Saturday. Played in Oram, we started on the back foot, conceding an early goal. We overcame this set-back scoring successive points to go in front after 15 minutes, 0-6 to 1-1. Another goal conceded in the 25th minute let slip our lead once again, and we went into the break 0-9 to 2-5 down. On the resumption of the game, we added a point, before Mark Counihan converted a penalty in the 39th minute to put us ahead again 1-10 to 2-6. Disappointingly, we only added 1 additional point to this tally, against ‘the faugh’s 1-3 to lose the game 1-11 to 3-9 . Our team and scorers were: Ian Treanor; John McCarron, Niall Feely, Eoghan Kelly; Justin Halligan, Rory Treanor, Darren Todd; Pauric Treanor, Barry Cuddy; Niall Coyle (0-1), Paudie McKenna (0-2, 1f), Damian McRory (0-1); Christopher McKenna (0-3), Keith Sheerin (0-2), Mark Counihan (1p-2f). U-21: We defeated Latton 0-11 to 0-10 last Tuesday in the semi-final of the U-21 Div. 1 league to advance to the final in which we met Emerald Sarsfields in Monaghan last Monday evening. Unfortunately the final ended in disappointment as we went under 1-10 to 2-15. We started the final impressively going 3 points up in the first few minutes, but Sarsfields responded with 1-2 before we registered again. Though we levelled the game in the 12th minute, the Blackhill-Oram amalgamation scored their second goal of the game a minute later to re-take the lead, a lead they maintained for the remainder of the match. By half time we were 0-7 to 2-6 in arrears. Our best period in the match was the third quarter, and a Chris McAnenly goal in the 39th minute reduced the deficit to 2 points, 1-8 to 2-7. By the 46th minute the deficit remained 2 points, 1-10 to 2-9. Emerald Sarsfields clocked up an additional 6 points in the last 12 minutes to finish the game as deserved winners, with a full time score 1-10 to 2-15.
