Car Wash: The juvenile club’s fundraising car wash was a great success last Saturday. We raised €740, as well as having an enjoyable day which saw many club members get involved. Thanks to everyone who helped out or supported on the day.
Seniors: The senior footballers fell to a 1-11 to 0-11 SFL defeat at home to Scotstown last Saturday evening. Our lads made a very slow start, falling three points down early on. A brace of frees by Liam Hahessy and a point from play by Shane Smyth kept our lads in touch, but Scotstown then hit four in a row and although Liam got one back, it was still 0-4 to 0-9 at half-time. The Harps hit the first five points of the second half to draw level, with scores from play by Emmett McArdle, Dean and Paul Rushe and frees by Nicky Treanor and Liam. After Scotstown had regained the lead, Paul kicked a fine equaliser in injury-time, but the visitors then struck for what would prove to be the winning goal. They added a point to put four between the teams and even though Dean kicked a free, there was no time for our lads to get the goal we needed. We wish Shane Smyth a quick recovery from the injury he suffered in this game.
Team and scorers Conall McKenna; Niall Hahessy, Stephen Driver, Conor Galligan; Gareth Treanor, Aodhán Óg McAnespie, David Hughes; Peter Coyle, Neil McAdam (Capt.); Shane Smyth (0-1), Nicholas Treanor (0-1f), Paul Rushe (0-2); Liam Hahessy (0-4, 3f), Emmett McArdle (0-1), Dean Fanning (0-2, 1f).

The seniors are in Latton tomorrow night (Wednesday) and have another game away to Currin on Friday. Both throw in at 7.45.
Reserves: The O’Duffy Cup team fell to another defeat last Wednesday, away to Clontibret. Points by Liam Hahessy (two), Dean Fanning and Nicholas Treanor were our only scores in a disappointing first half which saw us reduced to 14 players and facing an uphill battle when falling 1-10 to 0-4 behind by the interval. An improved second-half performance saw Dean convert a penalty and Liam, Nicholas and Gary Murray kick points, but we were never able to get closer than four points to Clontibret, who did enough to close the game out. We now need to beat Truagh in the last round and hope other results go our way if we are to secure a semi-final place.

The Crawley Cup team finished their league campaign with a home defeat against Blackhill on Friday evening. Niall Greenan, Colm Reilly, Gary Murray, Bernard Murphy and Dean Treanor were among our scorers in the first half, at the end of which we were level at 0-7 apiece, but our only score of the second half was a Robbie Moyna point and Blackhill found the net twice in quick succession to pull away. Thanks to Pat Murphy, Jimmy Croarkin and the players for their efforts this year.

Subs: Anthony Croarkin for Callan, Evan Doherty for Shalvey, John McCoy for Reilly, Andrew Mullen for McMahon.
Eoghan wins National Title: Eoghan McGinnity won the National title at the All-Ireland One-Wall Championships held in Citywest in Dublin. He remained unbeaten throughout five rounds of the 11-years age group to bring the All-Ireland title to the Harps. His semi-final opponent was the talented Tyrone player, Darragh Curran, who raced into a 6-3 lead early on. However, Eoghan kept his cool and went on to win convincingly. A very tense final was watched by a huge group of spectators and supporters. Cian O’Driscoll from Cork had reached the final by beating several of the top seeds on the way and thus was seen as favourite to win. What followed was an amazing display by Eoghan of accurate serves followed up by astounding kills shots. The title was won on the score of 21 to 11. Congratulations to our new All-Ireland Champion and also to Conor McDonnell who reached the Silver Masters final only to lose out by one point to Armagh’s Conor McMahon.
U-16: The Under-16s lost out by 2-10 to 1-8 at home to Killanny last Thursday. Despite four points from Evan Morahan, our lads trailed by 1-7 to 0-4 at half-time and even a positive start to the second half which saw Evan hit the opening three points to close the gap to a goal was wiped out when Killanny struck for their second goal. Evan found the net to give our lads hope, but it wasn’t enough to turn the game. The lads have two league games left: keep an eye on the club website and twitter for fixtures.
Team: Darragh Hannon; Evan Cudden, John Mulligan, Shane McKenna; Niall Duffy, Mustafa Gamal, Reece Treanor (Capt.); Tiarnán Bramley, Ramunas Ramanauskas; Mark Brennan, Evan Morahan (1-8, 0-5f), Thomas Bourke; Ruairí Forde, James Owens, Ciarán McQuaid.
Subs used: Stephen Mullen, Daniel Kelly, Conor Flynn.
U-12: The Under-12 Division One team lost to Truagh last Saturday. Good scores by Corey McArdle and Luke Coyle left our lads trailing by 0-4 to 0-2 by the end of the first period, but Truagh started to pull away after the restart. The Harps rallied with points from Colin Peppard and Corey and goals by Oisín Power and Killian Conlon, but Truagh held on to win by 2-10 to 2-4. The highlights of the non-competitive third were goals by Adam O’Neill and Andrew Lyden.
Team and scorers: Lochlainn Power; Colin Peppard (0-1), Stephen Ward, Seán Conway, Killian McAdam; Adam O’Neill, Oisín Power (1-0); Corey McArdle (0-2), Luke Coyle (0-1), Dylan Maguire, Killian Conlon (1-0).
The Division Five team were beaten by a strong Rockcorry team. Goals by Luke Coyle and Josh Maguire and a couple of good scores by Lochlainn Power were the bright points of a tough game for our lads.
Team and scorers: Daniel; Andrew, Nathan, Killian; David, Lochlainn (0-2); Shea, Luke (1-0), Josh (1-1).
Subs used: James, Ethan, Ryan, Dean
Ulster MFC Final: Hard luck to Colin McAree, Mattie McGleenan, Fearghal McMahon, Michael Galligan, Kevin Loughran and the county minor footballers, who put up a great battle before losing narrowly to Tyrone in last Sunday’s Ulster MFC Final. The minors now go into an All-Ireland quarter-final against Dublin and we wish them all the best.
Aido File: The GAA close season is upon us and enjoy the holidays for all those taking time off to relax! Our Under-16s and U-12s both got wins against Cootehill last week and will use the close season to train and push for the next few games. Reports and more info from Féile can now be found on the Harps Hurlers facebook page. Thanks once again to Jim, Michael, Thomas and physio Brian Peppard for their work with the Under-14s.
O-35: The club’s Over-35 team are set to compete in the Ned Boylan tournament in Scotstown. Contact Dermot Brannigan at 087 2309381 if you want to get involved.
Thanks: To everyone who helped out at the Senior Hurling Championship semi-final last Thursday and Monday’s Under-21 Football League Final at Gavan Duffy Park.
