JFC: We are hosting a Junior Football Championship match between Drumhowan and Éire Óg on Friday at 8pm. We need as many stewards as possible from 7 onwards and all help would be appreciated.
Seniors: The senior footballers returned to league action with a convincing win at home to Truagh last Friday evening. The first half was the Donal Hahessy show, as he kicked eight points (six from play) to help our lads take a 1-9 to 0-2 lead, while Neil McAdam scored the goal from a penalty and Emmett McArdle kicked the other point. Truagh made a brighter start to the second half, scoring two points and firing a shot at goal off the post, but two points each by Dean Fanning and Donal and one from substitute David Loughran increased the gap. Conor Galligan and David Hughes both got forward to add their names to the scoresheet, before Emmett made the final score 1-17 to 0-4. Our next game is scheduled for July 21 at home to Scotstown but is dependent on the county seniors’ progress in the All-Ireland qualifiers.
Team and scorers: Conall McKenna; Conor Galligan (0-1), Stephen Driver, Niall Hahessy; Paul Rushe, Aodhán Óg McAnespie, David Hughes (0-1); Peter Coyle, Neil McAdam (Capt., 1-0, pen); Shane Smyth, Nicholas Treanor, Liam Hahessy; Dean Fanning (0-2), Emmett McArdle (0-2), Donal Hahessy (0-10, 3f).
Subs: Gareth Treanor for Rushe (52 mins), David Loughran (0-1) for Fanning, Paul Kelly for N Treanor (both 55), Paddy Kelly for N Hahessy, Pat Murphy for L Hahessy (both 58).
Reserves: The O’Duffy Cup team returned to winning ways at home to Tyholland last Wednesday evening. Paul Kelly and Gary Murray were on target early on and Dean Fanning added a great goal, although Tyholland hit back with one of their own. A well-taken goal by Liam Hahessy and points by Liam and Dean had us six points clear at half-time on a scoreline of 2-6 to 1-3. Tyholland took a number of points off our lead in the early stages of the second half, but Dean and Liam kept the scores coming for us. We needed a great penalty save by Ronan McGann to stay in front, before points by David Loughran and Pat Murphy gave us some breathing space. Finishing the game with 14 men, our lead was trimmed to two points, but the lads held on (2-10 to 1-11) to keep our grip on third place in the table.
Team and scorers: Ronan McGann; Johnny Sherry, Niall McKenna, Darren McMahon; Conor Devlin, Paddy Kelly, Robbie Moyna; Paddy Connolly, Paul Rushe (Capt.); Pat Murphy (0-1), Paul Kelly (0-1), Gary Murray (0-1); David Loughran (0-1), Dean Fanning (1-3, 0-1f), Liam Hahessy (1-3, 0-2f).
Subs: Thomas Keelaghan for Murray, Dean McMahon for Connolly (inj.).

U-21: Our Under-21s play their league quarter-final away to Emerald Sarsfields (Blackhill and Oram) tonight (Tuesday) at 7.45.
Minors: Our minor footballers booked their place in the league semi-finals in the most dramatic fashion last Tuesday evening with a 3-11 to 2-8 win at home to Carrickmacross.
The lads had got off to a perfect start with a goal by Jason McHugh, but Carrick converted a penalty and despite points by Fearghal McMahon and Michael Galligan, Carrick went on to lead by 1-5 to 1-4 at half-time. Fearghal converted a free early in the second half, but Carrick found the net for a second time to move five points clear. Our lads still trailed by five inside the last quarter, but a couple of points by Fearghal closed the gap before Kevin Loughran slid in for a game-changing goal. A third goal soon followed when Shane Loughran set up Evan to fire home, before points by Fearghal and Michael sealed a great win. We wish the lads the best of luck in their preparation for the semi-finals and we hope that Evan Doherty and Conor Forde are back soon from their injuries.
Team and scorers: Ryan Shields; Pauric Murphy, Niall Treanor, Mustafa Gamal; Myles Dwyer, Evan Doherty (1-0), Benin Devlin; Kevin Loughran (1-0), Shane Maguire; Brendan McQuaid, Conor Burns, Carl Foentjies; Jason McHugh (1-0), Fearghal McMahon (0-9, 2f, 1 ’45), Michael Galligan (0-2).
Subs: Turlough Clerkin for Devlin, Shane Loughran for Dwyer, Francis Lynch for Burns.
U-16: The Under-16s lost out by 3-8 to 1-8 away to Scotstown last Thursday evening, but they will have a chance to put that result behind them when they host Emyvale this Thursday.
Aido file: Well done to all the Féile squad, management, back-room staff, supporters, well-wishers and hosts Skerries Harps. A great weekend was had by all with the added bonus of winning the group before losing to Raheny at the semi-final stage. Thank you and well done to all involved.
Handball: Eoghan McGinnity won the national title at the All-Ireland One-Wall Championships held in Citywest in Dublin. Eoghan had to play five matches in the 11 years age group on Friday and Saturday, with the semi-final and final on Sunday and he remained unbeaten throughout to bring the All-Ireland title to the Harps His semi-final opponent was the talented Tyrone player Darragh Curran, who raced into a 6-3 lead early on. However, Eoghan kept his cool and went on to win convincingly. A very tense final was watched by a huge group of spectators and supporters. Cian O’Driscoll from Cork had reached the final by beating several of the top seeds on the way and thus was seen as a big favourite to win. What followed was an amazing display by Eoghan of accurate serves followed up by astounding kill-shots to win 21-11. Congratulations to our new All-Ireland champion and also to Conor McDonnell who reached the Silver Masters final only to miss out by one point against Armagh’s Conor McMahon.
U-14: Our Under-14 football teams are both away to Scotstown this Saturday. The Division Five match throws in at 12 noon, followed by the Division One fixture at 1.15.
U-12: The Under-12 Division Five footballers lost away to Killeevan last Saturday, while the Division One team are in Scotstown tomorrow (Wednesday) for a 7pm throw-in.
Ulster MFC Final: Tickets for the Ulster Minor Football Championship Final between Monaghan and Tyrone in Clones on Sunday week (July 22) must be ordered from Lorcan McAdam by this Thursday. We encourage everyone to get behind our county minors.
Good luck: To the Monaghan senior men’s and ladies footballers this Sunday in Portlaoise and Clones.
