Senior Football League Fixtures

We play Ballybay away in Ballybay on Saturday evening at 7.00pm (note early throw in) and then on Wednesday next we entertain the ‘mighty Faughs’ in Scotshouse  at 7.45pm. On Friday 27th we play Monaghan Harps at home also at 7.45pm. Then there is the August break. Keep in touch with the Monaghan GAA website for definite fixtures. Also the Fixtures will be posted in the village.

 

Monaghan Senior Football

The All Ireland Qualifier against Laois ended our county football for the year. Laois scored two goals in the first half and that in the end proved the difference. It was a unique and proud day for Currin when we had three representatives on the team-sheet. Well done to Dick, Stephen and Jack on making it an historic day for our small club.

 

Juvenile and Youth.

Training: U-14 Training takes place every Thursday from 4.15p.m. to 5.30p.m. and on Saturday mornings. Results, league positions and fixtures are all on the official Monaghan website.

 

Ladies Football.

Monaghan ladies had a marvellous win over Donegal in the Ulster final on Sunday last. Well done to Laura and Ellen on their success, and a special congratulations to Ellen who received the TG4 Ulster Senior Championship Player of the Match Award.

 

Ulster Final

Ulster Minor Football Championship Final – Monaghan v. Tyrone on Sunday 22nd July 2012. Throw in 12.00noon. NOTE the early throw in. Tickets should be collected by now.

SCOTSHOUSE:

Bingo:  As usual every Tuesday in the Scotshouse Community Centre at 9.00pm.  Newcomers always welcome why not bring any visitors along to have a good evening.

Monaghan Ladies Football:  Well done the ladies who had a good win on Saturday. As usual Ellen and Laura represented Scotshouse in the winning team.  See the notes in the sports pages of the paper.

Fund raising to help Emma Boylan go to India to teach in an Orphanage.  Emma and her family are very grateful for your support and the very generous way you all helped with a total of €1975 being raised with the cake sale and the donations received.  Well done Emma. It is pleasing to see a young lady who has worked hard to qualify as a teacher and to see you give up your time to help these children.  Have a safe journey and enjoy your experience. The children will be lucky to have you with them. We will remember you in our prayers.

Fundraising event in memory of Peter McGurk & his brother Eamonn’s 20th anniversary in aid of the Irish Heart Foundation on Saturday 28th July in the Cuil Darach Clones at 9.00pm.  Raffle & finger food on the night.  Music by The King & I.  Tickets €10.

The Walk to Knock!  Young people of Ireland fan the flame of faith:  Young people from Clogher to Tuam will take part in a relay walk carrying a penal cross and a flame to Knock Shrine this summer.  Young people joined by Bishop Donal McKeown will begin the walk in Lough Derg on Monday 23rd July at 11.a.m. and begin their trek across the country.  You are invited to join the young people from Clogher Diocese on the 1st stage of the Walk to Knock from Lough Derg to Belleek and it starts at Lough Derg at 11.a.m. and finishes with Mass at 7p.m. in St Patricks.

Old Mobile Phone Collection – Aghabog Ladies Football have joined the Jack and Jill Foundation to collect old unwanted mobile phones.  Collection boxes are located in Gallaghers and Connolly’s shop.  Both organisations will benefit from this collection.  Please support by donating your old mobile phones.

Cookery Demonstration:  Currin Parish invites you to a Cookery Demonstration Evening on Friday the 7th of September at 8.00p.m.  This culinary evening will be held in Scotshouse Community Centre.  Refreshments served.  For more information and tickets (€10), please contact the rector on 047 – 56962 or Mrs Maud Agnew , tel – 047 55200

Bereavement: Our sympathies are with the family of Peter Rehill who died suddenly on Sunday last. Peter was buried in Scotshouse Graveyard on Wednesday 18th.
