Doohamlet and Inniskeen both made winning starts to the McGuigan Builders Intermediate Football Championship over the weekend, setting up a first-round meeting between the two teams who were relegated from senior last year. Inniskeen edged out Toome on Saturday, while Doohamlet got the better of Seán McDermotts on Sunday (see match report).

Oram caused arguably the result of the opening weekend of championship matches when they beat Clones in the Universal Graphics Junior Football Championship preliminary round. Six points from Pauric Graham helped Oram to a deserved win against a disappointing Clones side.

Doohamlet shocked Magheracloone in Sunday’s Platinum Tanks Reserve Football Championship O’Duffy Cup semi-final. The Geraldines belied their RFL Division Two status to book their place in the final against four-in-a-row-chasing Castleblayney, who edged out Scotstown on Friday.

Aughnamullen got their first win of the season in the Platinum Tanks Reserve Football League Division Three at the expense of Castleblayney on Saturday.
