Reserves: The O’Duffy Cup team fell to a 2-13 to 0-13 defeat against Castleblayney in Donaghmoyne last Tuesday. Our lads made much the better start with points by Dean Fanning, Paul Kelly and Nicholas Treanor (free) and although Blayney responded with three on the bounce, three points by Liam Hahessy and one each by Paul and Nicholas had us four clear until Blayney hit 1-1 to draw level at half-time on a scoreline of 1-5 to 0-8. Points by Dean (three) and Liam (two) had us in front once again in the third quarter, but they proved to be our final scores, as Blayney picked off 1-6 without reply, including a late goal to turn the game on its head. The next RFL Division One game is at home to Tyholland next Wednesday.

Team and scorers: Conall McKenna; Darren McMahon, Niall McKenna, Johnny Sherry; Paul Rushe, Paddy Kelly, Niall Greenan; Paddy Connolly, Robbie Moyna; Paul Kelly (0-2), Nicholas Treanor (Capt., 0-3, 1f, 1 s-l), Gary Murray; David Loughran, Dean Fanning (0-4), Liam Hahessy (0-4, 1f).

Subs: Mark Mulhall for Murray, Séamus Brannigan for Paddy Kelly (inj.).

The Crawley Cup team lost narrowly at home to Clones in difficult conditions on Saturday. We were a few points behind at half-time despite scores by Andrew Mullen, Darren Smyth and Darren McMahon. A goal by Darren Smyth, brought us right back into the game, but our only score after then was by Conor Callan and a late goal and a couple of points won it for league leaders Clones. Just one game remains in the RFL Division Four, against Blackhill on July 20.

Team: Jimmy Croarkin; Fionntán Cassidy, Niall Brannigan, Darren McMahon; Séamus Brannigan (Capt.), Johnny Sherry, Donal Cuddy; Conor Callan, Dean Treanor; Dessie McGarry, Colm Reilly, Andrew Mullen; Finnian McKenna, Darren Smyth, Colm Shalvey.

U-21: Our Under-21 footballers lost away to Scotstown in their first league game last Wednesday. Our lads stayed with a strong Scotstown team throughout the match, with Paul Kelly and Liam Hahessy leading the scoring, but lost out in the end by 0-15 to 1-7. The lads are away to Truagh on Sunday for a 2.15 throw-in.

Team and scorers: Ryan Shields; Fionntán Cassidy, Conor Campbell, Charlie McDonald; Darren McMahon, Niall Greenan, Thomas Keelaghan; Aodhán Óg McAnespie, Dylan McMahon (0-1); Dean McMahon, Paul Kelly (1-3), Stephen Clerkin; Niall Hahessy, Liam Hahessy (0-3), Paul Lee.

Sub: Conor Forde for Greenan (inj.).

Minors: Our minor footballers return to league action after the Leaving Cert away to Clontibret on Tuesday at 8pm. The minors host Carrickmacross next Tuesday.

U-16: Our Under-16s are also back after the exam break. They beat Ballyhaise in a challenge match last Sunday and return to league action on Friday at home to Doohamlet – please note change of date.

U-14: Our Under-14 Division One team had a 4-15 to 2-11 win at home to Clontibret in the league last Thursday. A brace of points by Shane McMahon were our lads’ only scores of the first quarter, which Clontibret won by 0-5 to 0-2, but a goal by Michael Mulligan and points by Shane, Conor Duffy and Remy McKenna brought the Harps right back into it. Goals by Shane and Michael and points by Michael, Conor and Remy put our lads into the driving seat in the third quarter, before Jack Deery hit 1-1 and Remy added three points to push on for a ten-point win. Both our Under-14 teams are at home to Emyvale this Saturday.

Team and scorers: Cathal Power; Thomas Croarkin, Soky John; Niall Ward, Seán McKenna, Anthony Greenan; Shane McMahon (1-5, 0-2f, 0-1 ’45), Paul Peppard; Jack Deery (1-1), Remy McKenna (0-5, 1f), Conor Duffy (0-2, 1f); Ben Flynn, Michael Mulligan (2-2).

Subs used: Nathan O’Donoghue, Dylan McAree.

U-12: Both Under-12 teams lost out in their most recent games. An understrength Division Five side lost out to Aghabog last Saturday. The Harps started slowly, allowing Aghabog to dominate, but the lads grew into the game and were unlucky not to get more scores on the board through the efforts of the likes of Adam McGarry and Andrew Lyden. The Division One team lost out to Emyvale on Monday evening.

County teams: Hard luck to the county senior footballers on their one-point defeat against Down in last Sunday’s Ulster SFC semi-final. Well done to the minors, managed by our own Colin McAree, for qualifying for the Ulster MFC Final.

Cúl Camp: As usual, we are hosting a Monaghan GAA Cúl Camp this year, taking place from July 9-13. The cost is €55 for one child, €45 for a second child and €40 for additional children. Full details are available on the Monaghan GAA website.

Hurling: The senior hurlers lost to Carrickmacross in the championship last Thursday and they host Castleblayney this Thursday. The Under-12 and Under-16 hurlers both start their league campaigns away to Clontibret on Tuesday evening.
