June 6th, 2012

Magheracloone G.A.A.

Lotto . The Lotto draw for the  week ending 4th June  saw the following numbers being drawn…..3, 10, 17 and 21. The jackpot was not won and four players won fifty euro each in the Lucky Dip. The winners were Jim McPhillips, Shantonagh, Tracey Clarke, Shercock, Jay Sheckleton, Coolderry and Noel Gaynor, Kingscourt.

The next draw will be held on the 11th June in the clubrooms.

Senior League.   The League continued last week with a visit to Carrickmacross on Wednesday and a re-arranged fixture at home to Ballybay.  It proved to be a successful week for the senior team with two fine victories.

The final score in Carrickmacross was 0-11 to 1-15 while the Ballybay outfit were defeated on a score of 0-13 to 0-6. As a result of these two wins Magheracloone moved from third from bottom of the table to third from top and the team still has a game in hand. However the competition is still very open and the team is in no doubt that each and every point will be vital this season. Two more home games follow in the weeks ahead as well as the championship outing at the end of the month.

Scotstown are the visitors on this Sunday 12th with a 12.00 noon throw-in while Currin are in Magheracloone on Friday 6th July with an 8.00 throw-in.

Reserves.  The Reserve team welcomed Drumhowan to Magheracloone on Sunday for the semi final of the Reserve Championship. Un fortunately Magheracloone could not make it three from three for the week and lost out on a final place by two points. The next Reserve league game is due to be played on Wednesday 13th away to Latton.

Juvenile News. The U-14 and U-12 seasons are now in full swing with both league and championship games in the coming weeks. The County Board intend to pick one fixture each week as the Game of the Week and it is hoped that a Magheracloone game will be featured in the near future.

The U-12 team have played one and won one so far and they travel to Monaghan Harps on Monday evening for a game that begins at seven o’ clock.

The U-14 team are also progressing well with three wins from three. They face Corduff in the championship on Tuesday 12th at seven while they are due to face the same team in the league on the following Saturday also in Corduff.
