On Wednesday evening we played Ballybay at home in the league, in a fast hard hitting game a draw was probably a fair result at the end. Scores were hard got in the first half and an O, Duffy goal was all that separated the teams at half time. Ballybay started the second half brightly and scored 1-3 without reply. It took 17 min for Latton to register their first score of the second half. Latton finished the second half the stronger team and were 1pt up in injury time but a bad pass out of defence let Ballybay in for the equalising point. U-14 Championship
We played Doohamlet on Tuesday evening in the first round of the championship, played in ideal conditions the spectators were treated to a great game of football. Latton got off to a slow start and were a point down after the first quarter, two well worked goals in the second quarter from C mc Cabe and B Morris sent Latton in 5pts up at half time. In the third quarter Latton kicked some good long range points and a goal from D Hughes helped them to a 10pt lead. Doohamlet never gave up and scored two goals early in the last quarter, Latton responded well and an S Duffy goal but the game beyond Doohamlets reach. A good all-around performance from a young Latton team with the midfield working especially hard. Team and scorers: D Quinn. L Quinn. C Lennon. D Hughes 1-3. C Mc Cabe 1-6. N Mc Guire 1pt.
