Seniors:

We played Truagh in the senior football league last Wednesday night, 30th May, in St Mellan’s. The home side began very brightly and had two early goals. With Marc Counihan pulling the strings they played with great confidence and led at half time by 2-6 to 0-2. We played poorly in this first half hitting seven wides and making too many unenforced errors. We began the second half with an increased intensity and a Sean Brady goal and Niall Mc Entee point closed the gap but further wides allowed Truagh to reassert their ascendency and they finished worthy winners. Good to see Cian North back after injury and Paddy Mc Dermott getting some game time.

Our next fixture is the S.F.L round 9 game against Clontibret. This will take place at 5pm on Saturday 9th June in Clontibret. Please note change of day and time.

Juvenile and Youth.

Under 14’s: We played Clontibret on Saturday 2nd June at home. Again this was a great display and we ran out deserved winners. Your continued support for all juvenile games is appreciated. Results, league positions and fixtures are on the official Monaghan website.

Training: U-14 Training takes place every Thursday from 4.15pm to 5.30pm and training for all juveniles continues on Saturday mornings from 11.00am to 12.15pm.

Ladies Football.

Congratulations to Ellen Mc Carron and the Ulster ladies team who won the MMI interprovincial series last weekend. Only the ‘big one’ left to complete the set.

Stephen Beatty

Congratulations to Stephen Beatty, our wing half back and former captain, who reached the finals of the Tradesman of the Year in the Irish Star. By now the result will be known but if dedication and commitment are prerequisites for selection then Stephen would win by a mile. Well done Stephen.
