Seniors – The seniors went down to a narrow one point defeat to Latton on Sunday in a league encounter played at Oram. Latton opened the scoring with a point but a fine Keith Hill individual goal after 3 minutes gave Blayney the lead. A free from the same player and points from play by Ciaran Hughes and Ciaran Hanratty increased the lead to five by the 15th minute as Blayney dominated. Latton were given a route back in to the game with a goal following a goalmouth scramble and for the remainder of the 1st half the teams traded points to leave the half time score Faughs 1-07 Latton 1-05. The 2nd half began on the same note with two evened matched teams going score for score with points from Ryan Treacy and Gerry Brady being countered by 2 Latton scores also from play. Blayney were then reduced to 14 with Conor Gurn receiving a 2nd yellow card and Latton made the most of their numerical advantage and 3 points in a row edged them into the lead and when they were awarded a goal itlooked as if Blayneys task would be too much. However over the final 12 minutes of the game Blayney outscored their opponents by 4 points to 1, with Marty McElroy contributing 3 and one from Ciaran Hanratty which could even have found the net, setting up a grandstand finish but Latton held on to win 2-11 to 1-13.
