Carrickmacross are the new leaders of the Drumlin Group of Credit Unions Senior Football League after they had an impressive 1-18 to 0-10 win away to Monaghan Harps on Wednesday evening. Carrick have surprised many with their start to the season and they continued that with a fifth win from six games. Stephen Gollogly (1-7, including a goal from a penalty) and Mark Downey hit 1-12 between them, while Peter O’Hanlon and James McGeown shone at midfield as Carrick pulled away in the second half, during which they outscored the Harps by 1-11 to 0-3. Ballybay are second after their 100% record was ended by a 1-5 to 0-8 draw at home to Truagh, who hit a late equaliser through a Mark Counihan free.
Aughnamullen missed the chance to move clear at the top of the Monaghan Electrical Intermediate Football League when they lost to Cremartin, who are now just a point behind the four joint-leaders, while Inniskeen beat Toome to pick up two badly-needed points.
