Sean Mac Diarmada Notes 31-5-12
Intermediate Championship:
We play Doohamlet on the preliminary round of the Intermediate Championship in Clontibret on Sunday evening next @7:00pm. We wish them all the best.
Jubilee Dvd:
The rewind is available from all of the local shops at €20. This is excellent value for a piece of local history spanning 6 decades and nearly 3 hours.
Under 10 Blitz:
Our Under 10 squad made the short journey to Smithboro on Saturday morning last to participate in a very enjoyable football blitz. Played in glorious sunshine our youngsters gave a good account of themselves. Results in these underage blitz’s are of little importance at least to the coaches involved; not so for the young participants, according to the many score keepers in our squad they won two games and lost one, the energy sapping temperatures taking its toll in the final series of games. Saturday’s panel was Caoimhe Mc Cabe, Chloe Stuart, Tim Mc Guinness, Ciaran Maguire, Josh Hagan, Fintan Keogh Conor Brennan, Ryan Farrell and completing our 10 strong squad and showing some deft touches despite their tender years were Ben Forde and Mathew Mc Guinness. A word of thanks to our hosts Eire Og for their organisation and hospitality in the sweltering heat of Saturday the refreshments provided at the conclusion of the games were very welcome and much appreciated by everyone involved. The support too of the many parents who travelled to these blitz and were there in Smithboro offering encouragement is much appreciated as is the effort made by all parents to have their children present at the clubs in house coaching sessions on Wednesday evenings at 7.00pm and on Saturday mornings at 10.00am.
Under 12’s:
Our under 12 team went down to a more superior Donaghmoyne team last Friday evening. Played in Mediterranean type conditions our men tried their best despite being short a few regular due to injury. Next match is away to Castleblayney on 9th June. Hopefully we will have a full complement to chose from.
Speedy Recovery:
Best wishes to Daire Freeman who sustained a serious injury on Monday night last against Scotstown.
Cultural Night:
Our traditional Irish Music session took place last Friday in the complex. This was a terrific night’s entertainment. A huge thank you to all – our local talent, plus musicians from Clones, Monaghan, in addition to Corcaghan C.C.É. and Monaghan C.C.É musicians. A fantastic night was had.
