Clontibret had a six-point win away to Magheracloone in the Drumlin Group of Credit Unions Senior Football League on Wednesday.
In the only other game on Wednesday, Aughnamullen advanced to the quarter-finals of the Platinum Tanks Reserve Football Championship Crawley Cup at the expense of Castleblayney.
Scotstown fell to their first defeat of the year in the GRM Minor Football League Division One when they lost at home to Carrickmacross on Tuesday, while Killanny continued their good form with a comprehensive win over Clontibret and Castleblayney edged a scrappy game away to Monaghan Harps.
Emyvale and Donaghmoyne are the joint-leaders of the MFL Division Two after they had convincing wins at home to Cremartin and Latton respectively on Tuesday. Magheracloone got the better of Truagh for their third straight win, while Seán McDermotts stayed in the running for a semi-final place by defeating Rock Sarsfields.
Tuesday’s MFL Division Three games produced four high-scoring and closely-contested games. Inniskeen edged out Cúchulain Sarsfields to go top of the table, taking advantage of St. Patrick’s being held to a draw by Corduff in a seven-goal thriller, while Blackhill pipped Doohamlet to hold on to third place and Tyholland got off the mark at the expense of St. Tiarnach’s.
The weekend was a relatively quiet one, where finals in the Gerry’s Prepared Veg. Under-14 Football and Hurling Championships took centre-stage. Scotstown had a comprehensive win over Emyvale in the Football Division One Final, while Monaghan Harps saw off Inniskeen to retain the Hurling Championship.
Meanwhile, the county senior footballers continued their preparations for the championship with a narrow defeat against Armagh on Sunday and a win over Louth on Tuesday and the minor footballers were edged out by Donegal in a challenge match on Saturday.
