Ballybay stretched their lead at the top of the Drumlin Group of Credit Unions Senior Football League to three points on Sunday. The Pearse Brothers raced into a 1-4 to 0-1 lead at home to Scotstown and although the visitors rallied, thanks mainly to their only scorer Kieran Hughes, Ballybay held on to win by 1-4 to 0-4. Currin pulled off the result of the day with a 0-8 to 0-6 win at home to county champions Latton, making it three home games in a row without defeat. Monaghan Harps are up to third after a goal from Gary White led them to a 1-8 to 0-8 victory away to an understrength Magheracloone, while Castleblayney had a stunning 3-12 to 0-6 win over Carrickmacross, with goals by Damien Hughes (two) and Keith Hill. Elsewhere, Clontibret and Truagh finished all-square (1-11 to 2-8). Conor McManus was in fine form for the defending champions, but goals from Mark Counihan (penalty) and Adam Treanor gave Truagh a share of the spoils.

Monaghan Electrical

Doohamlet are four points clear in the Monaghan Electrical Intermediate Football League after full-back Martin Hughes became the unlikely hero with a late fisted point to win their game at home to Donaghmoyne, who had come from five points down to draw level. Corduff continued their return to form by grinding out a 2-3 to 0-7 win in Aughnamullen, while Inniskeen also took an important two points by the narrowest of margins in Tyholland (1-11 to 1-10). Rockcorry moved out of the relegation zone with a comfortable defeat of Seán McDermotts, who remain rooted to the bottom of the table.

Cremartin are up to second in the Monaghan Electrical Intermediate Football League after they had a fairly comfortable win away to Toome on Monday. Last year’s junior double winners are now one of the form teams in the IFL and they overcame a slow start to win this one by 1-13 to 0-7.

Eurotech

Emyvale went into this weekend with a 100% record in the Eurotech Junior Football League, but they suffered their second defeat in three days when they lost on Sunday at home to Clones, who have now joined the north-Monaghan men at the top of the league. Drumhowan are just a point back, but only after they survived a scare at home to Killanny, who hit the post from an injury-time penalty. Blackhill and Aghabog both moved into mid-table with wins over Killeevan and Oram respectively.
