CLUB NOTES

29th May 2012

It’s a Beautiful Day!

Summer well and truly arrived last Sunday because not only did we enjoy glorious sunny conditions but we also enjoyed two fantastic wins in the Ulster Football Championship as both the Monaghan minor and senior team’s secured victories over Antrim and congratulations to all involved. Very well done to our club representative Fergal McGeough who played his part and scored a couple of points during the minor game. Let’s hope they can repeat the performance in a couple of weeks’ time against Down or Fermanagh.

Monaghan Electrical Intermediate League Fixtures

Our senior team will be back in action tomorrow evening Friday 1st June when they travel to play Donaghmoyne at 8.00pm. On Sunday 10th June they are on the road again when they travel to play Doohamlet at 12 noon.

Under 8 Go Games Blitz

Our under 8 team played Aghabog last Saturday (26th May) as part of the Go Game blitz competition and there were a number of games played during the course of the morning with the focus on enjoyment and full participation being the key factor. All kids enjoyed the occasion and seemed to have plenty of fun and many thanks to the Aghabog club for travelling and again thank you to all the parents for turning up and supporting the youngsters.

Under 12 Competitive League

The under 12 competitive summer league kicked off last Saturday 26th May and our wee warriors got off to a good start with a convincing win over Castleblayney B team. Their next game is against Aghabog on Saturday 9th June. Keep up the good work.

Under 14 Team

The next game for the under 14 team is this Saturday 2nd June when they travel to play Carrickmacross B team at 12 noon.

Under 16 Team

Last Thursday evening our under 16 team travelled to play Eire Og in the league campaign and while we scored 4-5 we lacked sufficient power against a strong Eire Og outfit and the home team ran out comfortable winners on a score-line score-line Eire Og 3-28 Rock-Emmets 4-5. Football will now take a back seat as players get ready to sit their exams so the next game for the under 16 team is on Thursday 21st June when they are scheduled to play Blackhill.

Exams

Good luck to all players and members that are currently studying hard for exams at this time. I hope you get the questions you are hoping for and get the opportunities you deserve for all your hard work.

Diamond Jubilee Celebrations

Sixty years ago Canon Gerard Ferguson was ordained to the priesthood. To commemorate and celebrate his Diamond Jubilee a special Thanksgiving Mass will take place in St. Mary’s Corravacan on Friday 22nd June at 7.00pm. Mass will be followed by a presentation night in St. Mary’s Hall, Rockcorry. The organising committee, chaired by Donal Guckian, will be circulating tickets for this function over the coming weeks and they hope all families within the parish will support and make a contribution.
