ROCKCORRY G.A.A.

CLUB NOTES

8th May 2012

Monaghan Electrical Intermediate League Fixtures

After a couple of crazy weeks of fixtures this week was very quiet with no games either senior or reserve to report on. With our fixtures being like a feast or famine our season resumes this weekend when we face two tough encounters within forty-eight hours! Starting tomorrow evening, Friday 11th May, our senior team travel to play Corduff at 7.30pm and they are back in action again on Sunday 13th when they take on Sean McDermott’s at Pairc Naomh Mhuire at 2.00pm.

Reserve Football League Fixtures

The reserve team is back in action on Wednesday 16th May when they travel to play Truagh at 7.45pm.

GRM Minor Football League

Our minor team Rock-Sarfields played Donaghmoyne in the GRM minor football league on Tuesday 1st May and while a spirited performance won many plaudits from spectators leaving the grounds after the game, it was Donaghmoyne who left with the two league points following a cracking game of football. After an immense effort by the minor team that brought us within touching distance of what would have been our second win of the competition, they put in a very brave effort and everyone gave 110% and forced a strong Donaghmoyne team to dig deep. Unfortunately, our efforts faded in the closing stages and Donaghmoyne’s greater quality and stamina told as they reeled off 1-2, without reply, during the last five minutes to secure the victory on a final score-line Rock-Sarsfields 3-12 Donaghmoyne 4-12.  Last Tuesday 8th May they were scheduled to play Sean McDermotts. Please visit www.rockcorrygaa.ie for all latest results and fixtures. This Tuesday 15th May they play Emyvale in Killeevan and the game has a throw-in time of 7.30pm.

Under 16 Team

The under 16 team, Rock-Emmets, were defeated by Killeevan last Thursday 3rd May on a score-line Killeevan 4-17 Rock-Emmets 2-8. Their next outing is tonight Thursday 10th May with a home game against Corduff at 7.00pm.

Under 8 Go Games Blitz

Unfortunately, due to the extreme weather conditions we witnessed last Monday we were forced to cancel the under 8 Go Games blitz. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and we hope to reschedule the event as soon as possible.

Just a reminder that coaching for all the under 8 players continues every Saturday mornings between 10.00–11.00am. Under 10’s training continues every Monday evening between 6.20–7.30pm and on Saturday mornings at 10.00am. We would encourage parent participation and all players are welcome to attend these coaching sessions.

Under 12 Finals Day

This Saturday 12th May, is the under 12 Spring league finals day which takes place in the Monaghan training grounds at Cloghan, Annyalla. We have been drawn against Fergal O’Hanlon’s and the game will throw-in at 1.00pm sharp. The emphasis on the day is FUN and RESPECT and we would encourage as many parents and families to go and support the youngsters on this fun day.
