The Under 12s’ began their Summer League campaign with a fantastic display of commitment and teamwork which earned them a well deserved draw in Aghabog on Friday evening. Having suffered a 5 point defeat to the same opposition a few weeks ago in the Spring League, this young team were under no illusions to the extent of the task in front of them on this occasion. From early on it was evident that the extra commitment to training was going to pay dividends as they matched their more experienced neighbours in all areas. With tenacious defending and some great support play from midfield forward they soon built up a lead and went in at the end of the first period 3 points to the good.  They began the second period in the same determined and committed fashion as the first. However half way through the period they were rocked by the concession of a goal, which gave Aghabog the momentum they built on to take control of the game for the middle part of the period. Another Aghabog goal put them in the driving seat but it was at this stage that Killeevan showed their great character by getting themselves back into the game with a number of their players showing their best form of the year. It was score for score from there to the end with both teams playing some wonderful free flowing football especially in the third period. As previously stated it ended all square at the end and both sets of young players must be commended for their efforts in the hot and trying conditions. While both teams will probably feel they could have stolen the game at the end,a draw was probably the fairest outcome
