The four lucky dip winners this week, each receiving a prize of €50 were Liz Brennan, Rosevale, Johnny Hanratty, Barbara McHugh, Castleblayney and Kelsey Jane Tavey, c/o Conabury Inn.  The numbers drawn were 7, 12, 23 and 26.  Next week’s draw will take place in the Comet on the 21st May and tickets can be purchased from localotto.ie or outside Centra in the Glencarn Shopping Centre.

Ladies Final – Congratulates to Eileen McElroy who played for the Monaghan Ladies in their NFL final win over Cork on Saturday last. Well done Eileen and the rest of the squad.

Seniors – The seniors had a mixed weekend with a defeat to Monaghan Harps on Friday night and a big win over Carrickmacross on Sunday. Friday nights’ performance was a poor one with Blayney never really getting into the game. The scores were level at half time but an early scoring burst in the 2nd half gave the Harps a 6 point lead which they held comfortably to the finish. Final score Monaghan Harps 0-13 Faughs 0-07. The improvement in performance on Sunday was vast and we made great use of playing with the elements in the first half to lead 2-06 to 0-01 at the break. There was no let-up in the second half and we ran out 3-12 to 0-06 winners. There are no more senior fixtures now until after Monaghan’s Ulster Championship match

Junior B – The Junior B’s will play twice this week, on Sunday they play Corduff in the O’Duffy Cup; the game is in Oram with a 2PM throw-in. On Wednesday they play Latton in Toome in RFL 1at 7.45PM

Junior C – The Junior C team bowed out to a strong Aughnamullen team on Wednesday evening last, on a scoreline of 2-12 to 0-08. The home team started well but Blayney rallied to level the game, however a goal just before halftime gave Aughnamullen the lead. Try as they could, Blayney never looked like winning the game and a late goal sealed the win for Aughnamullen. The team is back in action in the coming weeks in the league.

Minors – The Minors returned to winning ways last Tuesday night with a win over Monaghan Harps 1-07 to 0-08. On Tuesday night they played Scotstown in the last game before the exam break, result in next weeks’ notes.
