Seniors – The Seniors fought out a hard earned 1-07 to 0-10 draw with Clontibret on Wednesday night the 25th April. Unfortunately on Saturday evening the 28th, they went down to a disappointing 3-07 to 1-11 defeat to Magheracloone, in a game played at the unusual venue of Crossmaglen. Playing with the elements in the 1st half Blayney jumped out to an early 3 point lead courtesy of 2 Keith Hill frees and a point from play from Marty McElroy. Three points in a row from Tommy Freeman undid all that good work to leave the teams level after 15 minutes. A goal from Peter Treanor at the end of a sweeping move restored a 3 point advantage for Blayney and points from Hill, one from play and one from a 20 metre free seemed to have given Blayney a comfortable half time lead but a fisted Magheracloone goal deep in injury time left the half-time score 1-5 to 1-3 in Blayneys favour.
The teams exchanged points early in the 2nd half, Blayneys coming from another Hill free, before a well worked goal from Magheracloone gave them the lead for the first time in the 40th minute. Two more Magheracloone points followed but frees from Hill and Malone reduced Blayneys arrears to just one. Another Magheracloone followed with less than 10 minutes left leaving Blayney with a difficult task and although Conor Gurn and Ciaran McGinn both pointed from play Magheracloone held out for a 3-07 to 1-11 victory.
