Carrickmacross were the big winners of the first round of the Drumlin Group of Credit Unions Senior Football League on Wednesday as they won by two points away to defending champions Clontibret. County champions Latton started their league campaign by drawing with rivals Magheracloone, while there was also a stalemate between north-Monaghan neighbours Scotstown and Monaghan Harps. Currin ‘s big day in making their SFL bow was spoiled by Ballybay, while Castleblayneymade a winning start at the expense of Truagh.
Inniskeen won the game of the night in the Monaghan Electrical Intermediate Football League away to Corduff, while newly-promoted Toome caused the shock of the round by beating Donaghmoyne. Elsewhere, Doohamlet were too strong for Cremartin, Tyholland had four points to spare against Seán McDermotts and Aughnamullen battled to victory against Rockcorry.
