County champions Latton renew their rivalry with Magheracloone in the first round of the Drumlin Group of Credit Unions Senior Football League, while last year’s league winners Clontibret also have a home game, against 2011 Intermediate double winners Carrickmacross. Currin play their first ever senior league game in their 126th year at home to Ballybay, while SFC runners-up Scotstown host neighbours Monaghan Harps and Castleblayney travel to Truagh.
Two divisions separated neighbours Doohamlet and Cremartin last year, but they go head-to-head in the opening round of the Monaghan Electrical Intermediate Football League. The other promoted team, Toome, have a local derby away in Donaghmoyne, while the other relegated side, Inniskeen, are away to Corduff in another all-south-Monaghan fixture. There is also a north-Monaghan derby between Seán McDermotts and Tyholland, as well as the meeting of Aughnamullen and Rockcorry.
