Live it, breathe it, looooove Rock Country Music. See y’all there!!!
Monaghan Electrical Intermediate League
Our senior team played their second game of the Monaghan Electrical intermediate league last Sunday afternoon when they travelled to play Toome. Even before a ball was kicked this was always going to be a tough encounter and with so many of our first team players absent through injury the task at hand was made even harder but it did give the younger lads a chance to come in to the team and show what they can do. While the lads displayed an enormous amount of effort and showed great team spirit and character they unfortunately were unable to convert enough scores onto the scoreboard and the game finished Toome 0-11 Rockcorry 0-9. Please visit www.rockcorrygaa.ie for a full match report and a selection of action photographs. Team & Scorers: Jamie Smith, Keelan Clerkin, Damien Matthews, Conor McGeough, Stephen McGuirk 0-1, Johnny Reilly, Colin Quinn, Niall McKeown, Fergal McGeough 0-3, John Greenan, Garry Calvert, Cathal Sheridan, Rory Carroll, Mark McGuirk 0-4, Paul Mckeown 0-1. Subs: Eoin Fitzpatrick for John Greenan (injured), Aaron Clerkin for Niall McKeown (injured).
Monaghan Electrical Intermediate League Fixtures

On Wednesday 25th April they travel to play Inniskeen and the game has a throw-in time of 7.30pm and on Sunday 29th April they have a home game against Cremartin at 2.00pm.
Reserve Championship
On Friday 27th April our reserve team play Aughnamullen in the preliminary round of the reserve championship (Crawley Cup) and the game has a throw-in time of 7.15pm.
GRM Minor Football League
The minor league started last Tuesday 10th April when our minor team travelled to St. Mellan’s Park to take on Truagh. The game was played on an overcast, but fine evening for football and there had been little or nothing to separate the teams during the first twenty minutes but then everything changed when Truagh blasted home goals on the 24th and 29th minutes respectively to take a seven point lead going in at the interval Truagh 2-5 Rock Sarfields 0-4. When the game resumed the home side turned on the style and quickly opened up an unassailable lead when they scored 3-4 without reply. At this stage of the game we were struggling and a point on the 17th minute was a welcome relief but yet again it was Truagh who displayed the extra craft when they notched over further points to secure the victory on a scoreline Truagh 5-13 Rock Sarsfields 0-6. Last Tuesday (17th April) our minor team were scheduled to play Cremartin. Please log onto www.rockcorrygaa.ie for all latest results and fixtures. This Tuesday 24th April they are on the road again when they travel to play Magheracloone and the game has a throw-in time of 7.15pm.
Under 8’s & 10’s
The clubs coaching philosophy at underage level is that it’s all about helping the players learn and develop their skills to help them progress through the ranks over the coming years. Our policy is to promote the games in a safe and enjoyable manner ensuring participation and inclusion. At this age we believe it’s all about participation and making sure all players get equal opportunity to play in games. The club has organized coaching sessions for the different age groups and coaching for all the under 8 players continues every Saturday mornings between 10.00–11.00am. Under 10’s training continues every Monday evening between 6.20–7.30pm and on Saturday mornings at 10.00am. We encourage participation and all players are welcome to attend these coaching sessions. In addition, we look forward to feed back during the year and request parents to get involved and take part in the various activities.

Under 12 Team
Our under 12 team played their second game of the Spring league competition when they played Aghabog last Saturday morning. The game took place in ideal weather conditions and while they had plenty of possession they unfortunately could not convert it onto the scoreboard. Alternatively, Aghabog made the most of their chances and they went into the break leading 0-3 to 0-6. On the restart Aghabog came out of the blocks the quickest and despite our boys and girls working extremely hard Aghabog managed to notch up a further twelve scores to secure the victory on a score-line Rockcorry 0-7 Aghabog 0-18. With the under 14 team in action this Saturday their next game will take place on Saturday 28th April when they play Corduff.
Under 14 Team
The under 14 team start their league campaign this Saturday 21st April with an away game against Currin at 12 noon.

Their next game is tonight Thursday 19th April when they play Inniskeen at Pairc Naomh Mhuire at 7.00pm and on Sunday 22nd April they have another home game when they play Eire Og at 12 noon.

Collecting History
1991 was obviously a special year for the club with the opening of Pairc Naomh Mhuire and of course the publication of “The Emetresse” by Peter McKenna, which detailed the history of the club. This has inspired the club to locate club memorabilia and any other information that can be used to highlight and record the history of the club. It is part of our attempts to build up our records so that we will have a rich resource of history that they will never be forgotten. I’m sure there are plenty of old photographs, and old stories to be told and I am willing to meet and talk to anyone that can shed some light on any event. I am particularly interested in photographs relating to the opening of Pairc Naomh Mhuire back in 1991, or perhaps you have photographs of the festivals that we held during those years! Maybe you have photographs with regards to the 1993 Dr. Ward Cup final against Corduff, or what about our fantastic victory over Tyholland in 1996 to claim the Dr. Ward Cup. These events and many, many more will no doubt live long in our memory and it is important to record and document these for future generations. Anybody who brings their precious memorabilia forward will be able to bring it back again as I will scan the items digitally and catalogue them. This is your chance to record and be part of the history of the club so please feel free to email me at rockcorrygaa@live.ie or contact me on 086-1041165 should you have anything to share with the club.
