Killanny 12p

Aghabog 11.

We had Aghabog as visitors to Pairc Eanna on Sunday last for the opener of the Junior league and and after a great fight back came away with a well deserved one point victory. Donal McArdle was first off the mark with a point after one minute followed by a point from Aghabog. Michael Vernon added another followed by a Brian Kerley speciality. Aghabog added two more points and Stephen McMahon stroked over a free. Aghabog replied with a free on the 17 minute but Gavin Traynor was on hand to cancel that out. Then Aghabog scored two more from play and Peter Dooley equalized on the 26th minute. Aghabog forged ahead and scored 3 unanswered points to leave the half time score 9p to 6p to the visitors. Peter Dooley uped his game and split the posts with a 30 metre free to edge nearer Aghabog. He followed on with 2 more points from frees to equalize for the second time in the game. Aghabog missed several chances  and that same player was a thorn in the Aghabog defence stroked over another point to go into the lead and followed with a fisted point. Locky Byrne and Conor Hoey came on to steady the ship and brought a bit of compousure to the youthful team. Aghabog added a free on the 26 th minute followed by a point to bring the sides level with minutes remaining. This was to be Aghabogs  last score of the game and Adrian Campbell the coolest man on the field stole upfield and pointed the winner with a beautiful strike much to the delight of the nice crowd that came to support. This win was very encouraging as we have a very young team and to see all of our forwards scoring and some excellent defending from our backs we can only look forward.
