Cross Community Gaelic Games to promote Peace Building

Ulster GAA will host its flagship annual cross-community, cross-border  Cúchulainn Cup  on Wednesday 25th April) at the Mid Ulster Sports Arena in Cookstown from 10.30am – 2pmAll media and photographers welcome.

 

The project brings together young people from the maintained, controlled and integrated schools sectors from towns across Ulster to compete for the Cúchulainn Cup in both Hurling and Football.  All those participating are from non-GAA backgrounds.

 

The Cúchulainn Project aims to use sport to build peace and reconciliation between communities across Ulster while also promoting Gaelic Games to those who would normally not have the opportunity to play the Games.

 

In this, the fifth year of the competition, it’s the biggest year in terms of participation with nine Cúchulainn Teams set to compete for the coveted Cúchulainn Cup.  Teams taking part include: Armagh Cúchulainns, Belfast Cúchulainns, Cavan Cúchulainns, Enniskillen Cúchulainns, Roe Valley Cúchulainns, Derry City Cúchulainns, and new to the competition Downpatrick Cúchulainns, Coleraine Cúchualainns and Monaghan Cúchulainns.
