Lotto – This week’s draw was held on Monday night in Taveys Bar, Market Sq. The numbers drawn were 1, 2, 10 and 16. There were no jackpot winners, 4 people won €50 in the Lucky Dip; John Paul Duffy c/o Dignams, Joan McCully, Tom Herbert, Ballinteer, Dublin and Aine Mallon, 14 Bree Upper C’Blayney. Next weeks’ draw will be held in Dignams. Don’t forget that ALL tickets bought in April will be entered in out new monthly draw for a prize of €500 at the end of the month. It is now also possible to do the lotto online at the club website.
Seniors – The seniors had 2 wins out of 2 in their opening league games in the last week. On Wednesday last they defeated Truagh 1-11 to 0-09 despite playing the majority of the game with 14 men. Then on Sunday morning they overcome a spirited challenge from Currin to win 1-13 to 2-07 in a game played at Toome. A busy period for the seniors continues with 2 more games this week, onSaturday evening we visit Ballybay with throw-in at 7PM and next Wednesday night there is another away game as we travel to Clontibret, throw-in 7.30PM
Junior C – The Cs flattered to deceive on Saturday as they were soundly beaten by Scotstown 4-12 to 3-03. The game took a while to come to life and after a quarter of an hour Scotstown lead by the games solitary point. Two goals in quick succession from David Callan then gave Blayney the initiative and when Scotstown were reduced to 14 after one of their players received 2 yellows the omens looked good for Blayney. This was to be as good as it got though and Scotstown were stung into action and a goal followed by a succession of points in the last 10 minutes of the opening period gave them a 4 point interval lead. Scotstown had the better of the opening exchanges in the 2nd half and increased their lead, David Callans 3rd goal gave Blayney brief hope but another brace of Scotstown goals saw them win comfortably.
Juvenile Street Collection – There is a street collection this Friday and Saturday to raise funds for the juvenile club. If anyone is available to give an hour of their time to help out could they please contact Brian Sherry 086 – 2334287 or Keith Hanratty 086- 8225982
Minors – Lost out to Scotstown last Tuesday evening on a score of 2-11 to 1-07. Forced to field without a couple of regulars Blayney were nevertheless competitive and it was only in the later stages that Scotstown pulled clear. Next Tuesday night they travel to Killanny for a 7.15PM throw-in.
U16 – The U16 league begins tonight (Thursday) with an away game against Carrickmacross, throw-in 7.00PM.
U14- The U14s also have their 1st outing this weekend when they play Corduff in St Marys Park at 12PM on Saturday.
U12 – The U12s had 2 good wins over Donaghmoyne at the weekend. Both teams’ victories were achieved through good passing, tackling and shooting. Captains for the day were Stephen Beattie and Gearoid Coyle with good performances coming from Kian O’Connor, Francis McGeough, Ciaran Duffy, Max Rogers and Shane Ward.
Cairde Fág An Bealach – The Faughs fundraising drive, Cairde Fág on Bealach, is now well underway and the response thus far has been very positive. The aim of the scheme is to facilitate Faughs supporters and the local community in making a financial contribution to the St Marys Park development. There are two levels of contribution. People can commit €240 per year either as one yearly payment or a monthly payment of €20 per month. This will give the subscribers a special jacket and membership of the newly revamped lotto with major weekly prizes. Alternatively people can commit to paying €120 per year either by one yearly payment or a monthly payment of €10 per month; this will exclude membership of the new lotto. Our sellers will be contacting members in the near future; alternatively anyone interested in becoming a member can contact Club Treasurer Bob O Donnell on 087-6025027, Declan at Loughman Sports or any committee member.
Winter Training Programme – All training will resume this week, Thursday the 19th April. U6s are in Rath na nÓg (6PM-6.50PM), U8s on the Astro-Turf (6PM-7PM) and U10 on the Astro Turf (7PM-8PM). Gaelic4Girls – The Gaelic4Girls will also resume on the 19th April. It will continue at the secondary school gym every Thursday evening at 7PM. The scheme is aimed at girls of 8 years of age and above. For more details contact Darren McQuillan on 086-3844055.
