The Handball Committee would like to thank everybody who came down to support our table quiz last Friday night in St.Mellans, we all hope that all who came had an enjoyable night, we would like to thank Anna-Rose and Bridget for helping out with the food, all who donated spot prizes and all who helped out in any way on the night. Congratulations must go to the winners who by now must be known as the “Usual Suspects” in Brian, Dennis, Gerard and Niall, is there any one out there who can stop these boys from doing 3 in row, the search starts here! .
All-Ireland Finals. Eamon Todd’s & Christopher Mc Kenna’s(PJ) All Ireland Doubles Final has fixed for the 31st of March in Mullingar Co. Westmeath where they face a Wexford pair in Darren O Toole & Malachy Whelan, if Christopher(D) and Terry are successful in their U21 Semi-final then they will also playing on the same bill in Mullingar against Kilkenny opposition, and fulfilling hopefully an all Monaghan bill Terry Keirnan & James Gavaghan will be playing there in the Junior Doubles, games are marked to start at 1pm, so good luck to all involved, all the boys hope as many people as possible could travel down to support them.
All Ireland U21 Doubles Semi-Final. Christopher Mc Kenna(D) & Terry Mc Elvaney (Harps) have played their re-arranged All Ireland U21 Doubles Semi-final against Roscommon players Cian Connolly & Darren Beattie in Roscommon Tuesday past(20th March), report next week.
Adult County Doubles Championships. We have several sets of player’s which have made county doubles finals, in the Nov4 Frank Mc Kenna & Damien Mc Clave, and in Nov3 Kevin Treanor & Patrick Mc Kenna are there and this could see Frank in No3 and Patrick in Nov3 claiming both titles singles and doubles, still all Finals TBC. Good luck to all involved.
GAA Team. Congratulations to our GAA B Team after they won the “B” final in Tydavent Wednesday night past (14th March) against Bawn B, first into the alley was Frank in the singles which proved to be a good tactical switch as he won 21-14, 21-13, next in was the doubles of Declan Mc Kenna(O) & Pat Mc Quaid and they won 21-13,21-9, and finally Gabriel Mc Aree won his singles 21-18, 21-16, well done to all who played on the night and also to Joe Kelly, Damien Mc Clave & Darren Todd who had played on the team on previous nights, well done everyone.
Juvenile Club Leagues. We had two remaining juvenile league finals, the Tipperary League final between Cian Maguire and Ronan Boyle was played on Wednesday week past, in which Cian came out victorious in a 3 game thriller 15-7 13-15 15-12, Cian dispatched some revenge as Ronan had won their previous league match 2-0, all in attendance said this was a cracker and hopefully future county champions were on display. The Kerry League final between Aaron Mohan and Ryan Mohan should be played this week results will be in next week. Photos of all finalists will be published over the next few weeks along with the notes so keep an eye out for your picture. As all coaches have brought down the curtain on the juvenile club season we ask that during the summer months for all juveniles to try to keep playing a little bit of handball as this would stand to them greatly for next years season when it begins, remember parents if there are any wet evenings (of which I am sure there will be) send them down to the alleys.
Community Games. Good luck to our U15 team who now start playing in the Ulster round of games shortly.
Feile Na Gael. We have entered a 6-man team into Feile na Gael and will begin training with these boys shortly to keep them in shape as the competition approaches.
