Happy St. Patrick’s Day
Top of the morning to ya lads and lassies! Given that this Saturday is St. Patrick’s Day, a day where millions of people will celebrate being Irish by wearing Shamrock, donning green outfits, go to parades and perhaps having a glass of good cheer I’d like to convey the club’s best wishes to all our members and supporters and hope that you all have a great St. Patricks day.
TOP 4 LOTTO
The numbers drawn last Monday night were 11, 16, 19 and 24. There was no jackpot winner of €11,400.00. “Rock Country” It’s Back!!!
Hi there guys and gals! Grab your Stetson and have yourselves a thigh slapping, toe tapping, hand clapping night of fun because “Rock Country” is back. That’s right folks the club is holding another exciting and electrifying, “Rock Country” night which will take place on Friday 27th April in St. Mary’s Hall. This show proved very popular last year and it’s easy to see why with its unique blend of unpretentious charm of feel good music and it will be the best place to unwind and give a big yee-ha. With great singers performing great songs this is the real deal so make sure you keep free Friday 27th April for a Boot Scootin good ole time, YEE-HA!
Reserve League Fixtures
The reserve team are back in action on Sunday 25th March when they travel to play Oram at 12 noon. On Saturday 7th April they have a home game against Sean McDermott’s at 6.30pm.
Soccer Tournament
After the success of the soccer tournament last year the players have decided to organise another 5-a-side tournament. The date and location has to be confirmed but if you are interested in entering a team please contact Paul McKeown, Anthony Tate, Mark Daly, or Noel Carroll and it costs €100 per team to enter.
Rounders Training Course
Rounders is one of the four sports of the G.A.A and is played by all age groups, such as GAA clubs, Community Games teams, schools and other community clubs. Monaghan Sports Partnership have organised a Rounders Training course which will take place on Wednesday April 4th at Cloghan GAA Grounds at 6.30pm. The course will last 2/3 hours with theory and practical material covered. All participants will enhance their knowledge of the game and will receive a certificate of attendance, a manual outlining rules and information about Rounders. Rounders is a fun and limited contact sport, it is perfect for both recreational and competitive play. It also draws on a different set of skills than the conventional GAA games and is very good for developing hand-eye coordination. if anyone is interested in participating please contact Monaghan Sports Partnership office on 042-9755126 or email sportsoffice@monaghancoco.ie to book a place on the course.
Underage Fixtures
Our under 12 team commence their Spring league on Saturday 31st March when they travel to play Killeevan at 12 noon. The under 14 team start their league campaign on Saturday 21st April with an away game against Currin at 12 noon. Our under 16 team Rock Emmets (an amalgamation between Rockcorry & Aghabog) commence their football season on Thursday 12th April at 7.00pm. Allianz Football League
Well done to Monaghan who put in a wonderful display last Sunday against Louth in the AFL. Let’s hope they can repeat their performance when they travel to Mullingar to play Westmeath this Sunday.
Cadburys Under 21 Championship
All the best to Monaghan Under 21 team when they take one Derry on Wednesday 21st March in the quarter final of the championship. The game is fixed for Celtic Park and has a 8.00pm throw-in.
Coaching Courses
A foundation level course will take place on Friday 23rd March at 7pm-10pm and on Saturday 24th at 9.30am to 3.30pm in Cloghan. The tutor is to be confirmed and the course costs €30 which will be paid by the club. Club Membership
Club membership is now due once again and can be paid to our club Registrar Pat Brannigan. The annual subscription for adults is €20 with all juveniles under the age of 18 costing €5 and any student that can provide a valid student card the membership fee is €5. As previously advised it is extremely important that ALL players pay their club membership otherwise you will not be covered under the GAA insurance scheme.
