Alpha Lotto – Winning Letters for last Sunday nights lotto in the Skule Inn was H,I,V,QThere was no Jackpot winner. The winners of the €20 lucky dips were Grainne Mc Cluskey, Kilgormly, Katelyn Duffy, Rockcorry, Bridget Cadden & Martha Mc Mahon, Lismeagh – SM, Marcella Mc Kenna, Mulladuff, Aine Sewell, Smithboro, Rosemary Treanor, Magherarney, Seamus Treanor, Mulladuff. Next Sunday’s draw will be held in Bens Place with the Jackpot standing at €3,250. Monies raised from Alpha Lotto are essential to funding the running costs of the club and the effort of all our patrons& sellers is greatly appreciated, without you we wouldn’t be able to progress the club forward and build towards the future by improving facilities etc. Team D is on lotto duty on Sunday 1st April.

 

Spring Clothes Collection– Time to sort out the Wardrobes? Have a big clear out before summer? Yes! The club is organising a used/old clothes collection on Saturday 14th April from 10am till 4pm which will help raise much needed funds. So we ask you to support us and spread the word to friends, relatives and neighbours.Items can be dropped to the club grounds between these times or we can organise to have them collected for you.

Handball – Hard luck to Conor Leonard who was defeated narrowly in the recent Ulster U14 Handball Championship final in Scotstown. The standard of play on show was of a very high standard and this was reflected in the final score line of 14-14 & 15-12. Conor played his part in this absorbing contest and can look forward with confidence to the Irish Handball Nationals.

Cardiac Screening Day – On Saturday, May 12th the club are facilitating a Cardiac Screening day at the club grounds in Smithboro.This screening service will be run by “Healthy Hearts Healthy Lives” who provide cardiac screening to help prevent sudden deaths in young people who may have “Sudden Adult Death Syndrome”. This initiative is open to all males and females aged between 14-35 years old and need not be GAA players or members.The screening takes about 5 minutes to complete and is a non-invasive, pain free procedure. Under 16’s require parental/guardian consent and each individual are required to complete a questionnaire. The test will include a screening questionnaire, an ECG and an echocardiogram if required. All tests will be reported on by a cardiology consultant. Cost is €45 per person – a deposit of €20 is payable at the time of the booking.  For booking or more information please contact Margaret Tierney on 047 57021 after 6pm. We hope as many people from the community will avail of this worthwhile service

Underage Section – Juvenile Registration for all under 6, Under 8 and under 10 boys & girls will take place this Sunday coming 1st April between 11.15am and 1pm. All players must be accompanied by a parent/guardian as a form relating to club rules needs to be agreed & signed.

Under 12- Pride of place this week goes to the Under 12 team who commenced their Spring League with victory over Fergal O Hanlons on Saturday last in Smithboro. Next game is on this Saturday 31st March at 12 noon against Sean McDermotts in Threemilehouse. All players are asked to be at the field in Smithboro for 11.20am. On a separate note there are 7 under 12 jerseys missing, could anyone who mistakenly took one home take it to the game on Saturday.

Under 14 – Training for Under 14’s continues this Thursday evening at 7pm on the main pitch.

Easter Cul Camp: A 3-day Gaelic Games Easter Camp for boys and girls aged 5-10 years takes place on the 10th, 11th and 12th of April. The camp runs each day from 10.30am until 2.30pm at the Scotstown Training Grounds at Kilmore East. Ladies Football – U-16s – Next training will take place on Monday at 6pm in the main field. U12 & U14 – training continues on Tuesday evenings from 6pm till 7.30pm in the main field.

Seniors– The senior men’s team will officially kick start their new competitive season on Sunday coming 1st April when Blackhill will be visitors to Smithboro for the opening round of the Junior Football League. Throw in time is fixed for 2pm.

Reserves – The reserve team recorded a 1 point win over Monaghan Harps on Sunday morning last in Gavan Duffy Park.  Next outing will be on Saturday 7th April with a home game against Blackhill.

Dressing Rooms – All teams using the dressing rooms are also asked to leave these facilities clean, tidy, and secure after every session, thanks to those who are already doing so, and a plea to those who are not, please begin.

Gaeltacht Scholarships 2012 – Interviews for Gaeltacht Scholarships will take place in the Enterprise Centre  Castleblayney on Saturday 21st April beginning at 10am.These are half scholarships and are available for students in the 14 to 17 age bracket. There is no need to book in advance, if you need further info emailirishculturalofficer.monaghan@gaa.ie.

Sympathy – The club would like to extend its sympathy to the family & friends of the late Ms Ellie McKenna, Mulladuff, Smithboro and to the McGuirk family Magherarney on the recent death of Sue Redmond, Newbliss, sister of Hugh McGuirk,
